Folks,
I am looking for a source for turn signal flasher units that are loud!
I have several cars and I would be interested in replacing the flashers on most of them. My hearing is not what it should be... and I struggle to hear the flasher unit in my cars.
I know they must make 'em I just haven't found any yet.
Help?

Sorry.....The MM flasher is built into the LCM (Lighting Control Module).....I had to replace mine!! :mad2: Good thing it was under warranty.....It is around $500 plus installation!!
I wish it was louder too.....Sometimes after entering the Interstate I see I'm still flashing several miles down the road!!
If you figure something out let us know??

My Z actually doesn't even use a relay for the flashers; its solid state.
The prototype Z was dead silent when the blinkers were on and surveys showed that American drivers would insist on some sort of sound so they added a small speaker under the dash simulating a relay clicking. My trivia moment is now over :P

Oh great... :bigcry:
This is going to be all wierd and stuff....
I suppose I could use some relays and and hook up my dashlights and radio such that when the directionals flash it cuts the dash and radio on and off...
But let's not forget I have several other cars.... so if anyone has a source for loud flashers... post up. I can at least convert some of mine. :help:

Try the ones out of a regular GM or a Ford Focus.

This isn't going to answer your question directly, but my hand is on my turn singal all throughout the turn; so I feel when it snaps back. Sometimes, if I'm not turning all the way - I snap it back myself.

Has to be some easy fix here, yes? Where are all you electronic masterminds, Ford Nut? Zack?

I'd like some more notice too, and if not a tick or buzzer, how about a brighter light so I know it's still on? I'd be happy with this. With shades on, it's hard to see. Don't really want the blinker louder, but a more obvious "click" when it turns off would be great.

Sometimes it's funny to how much acoustic quality is engineered in those modules.
I wanted to see if I could get the engineers to make some kind of audiophile quality where we'd get a Luthier to hand carve the cases. http://mercurymarauder.net/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Here's an idea...How about installing forward facing LEDs in the 3rd brake light housing. Wire them to the turn signal hot, ground them to the frame, and the driver will see them blinking in his rear view mirror.

If Mercury had a louder flasher Florida would only have half as many Grand Marquis with the left turn signal on.

How about a microphone taped to the module and connected to an amp then the radio... :help:

Ouch :( What happened to the one dollar directional signal flasher? I guess Ford had a better idea. :(

I wouldn't find this very funny actually.... anything you do that introduces confusion to the roadway I would think you would avoid. I would also suggest, that if you have an accident and it becomes an issue you were driving with your hazards on.... it is going to make it tougher to defend yourself.

Help? You could just wire in a couple of these (http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTL G&product%5Fid=273-057)to the hot leads of your turn signal lights.
You'd definately notice it :)

I am not sure if you would see the mirror in your side vision?

This is a good idea... pretty pricey tho....
Shame the mirror they make for the passenger side has that Warning statement....
I would love to have something like MARAUDER along the bottom of my mirrors.

Come to think of it, since our cars are basically Grand Marquis... aren't we just supposed to turn the right blinker on, break off the stem and go? :D
