Gentlemen,
I am new to the world of MM ownership, and I am wondering if any of you guys have any info on 6/5 speed conversions for the MM.

A few questions:
will the cobra/mustang pedal fit the MM?
will the tranny crossmember fit, if not does anyone already make one?

These are some of the questions I would like a little input on. I know I will have to adjust driveshaft length. Also, it shouldnt be a problem finding a clutch and bellhousing/tranny that will fit the motor(cobra or mustang T45/56). Last but not least, I am sure the mustang quadrant, cables, shifter and other little pieces will fit the car. But, I am not going to enjoy chopping on the center console.

Has anyone out there done this already? If so, please help.

Seems to me I read somewhere here that those trannys won't hold up due to the wieght of the MM. I could be wrong try searching the site

Pauls High Performance Implanted a Mustang DriveTrain into a marauder and Ended up breaking the transmission Quite often, So As cool as a Manual would be, Its going to be a mission to keep one together with over 4000lbs of Marauder

I wouldn't mind trying one in a stock application with minor bolt ons.

Don't bother with a 5 speed IMO. Stick with the t56. There are aftermarket t56s that can handle most anything you can throw at it. Just because Paul's had some trouble, don't let that discourage you. I suggest getting a Viper/Mustang t56 combo. The input shaft is stronger (more splines I believe). You can find one at D&D:

What I'd really like to see is one of the soon-to-be released 6R automatic transmissions from Ford (similar to the ZF 6HP26 in the current Lincoln Navigator) in a MM. I think the big hurdle would be controlling the thing. As I understand it, they come with a stand-alone transmission controller, and I don't know if that could be made to cooperate with the EEC-V.

thanks for the input so far guys....

I am really looking for the t56 swap, but I threw the 5 spd thing out because maybe someone already had a kit out there. the t56 definitely looks like the ticket for the expected power output( kenne bell 2.2 blower at about 15 psi) and the weight of the big monster. I am still working on the logistics with the kenne bell kit. I am basically going to use the 99-01 cobra kit with a little modifications. :D

I am sure the new 6speed auto would be very sweet to install. I am sure it would just be a matter of figuring out what language the new tranny speaks and translating that to the older marauder language. No problem, right?!?!?! Maybe someday.:banana2:

Gentlemen,

1) it's been done
2) no kit available
3) very expensive

What transmission was PHP using?

The Tremec TKO is a pretty stout transmission...... I can understand the T-5 breaking a lot...

I have a TKO in my Fairlane ... and so far... so good.... and I run slicks at the drags.... I've shelled the rear end.... but not the trans... (knocks on wood)
