If you wanted to take a Marauder and lose some gerth and still keep a comfy car where would you remove it from? This is to say you don't remove any electronics, seats, carpet, or anything that makes it a comfy. Just wanted to throw this out to see if anyone has thought of anything before.

If it was me, I'd take out the 100 lbs I added to the trunk. That would be a good start. But other than that, I don't see anything worth removing for a small reduction verses what you would have to look at or deal with when it isn't there.
We already have an aluminum engine block and an aluminum suspension/front end setup.

It definitely contributes to the 'comfy' aspects, but if I was wanting to lose weight I'd consider dumping the air conditioning compressor and related gear. You could also take out all the trunk and hood lining. You could also go with after market brakes. They not only stop the car better but they tend to weigh considerably less. After market wheels could probably be found that weigh less, as well. You could also pull the air suspension and put conventional springs in back. Without the compressor pump and air springs you might save a bit. You could take out the little cruise control motor. Manual seats would help, as well, losing the eight-way power adjustment. Of course, again, that cuts into your comfy quotient. :)
Really, though, if I wanted to dump some weight to improve my times I would get off my lazy butt and lose about 15 to 20 pounds around _my_ middle. :)

Trunk, Doors, Hood and Fenders. I don't think that those would affect comfiness.
Seriously: Maybe the spare tire (for those of us with full size), run with a half full (or empty) tank of gas, really I don't know.
Oh yeah: Take three lugs off each wheel
(all in good fun  )

I like the car just the way it is.
Now ME ...
I could lose another 25lbs.

This isn't for racing, it's for that long trip back across the states when I leave here and go back to Ga. I seem to be taking back a few things that I didn't bring out that I can't get rid of.

I love that link. I saw it a month or so ago from a guy I worked with who owns a Subaru WXR6 or some such thing....

That's easy, Dan. Just take the spare, trunk organizer, beer cooler, and lawn chairs out of yours, and secretly slip the stuff into a handy Silver Birch, that's parked nearby. ;)

Take notes on what you do and don't use. Take out everything you don't except for emergency stuff like the spare. But, the trunk should be empty (no liners, organizer, fancy stuff). Take the rear seat out if you don't normally carry passengers. You can make a rear seat delete panel to cover up the hole. You can also change to titanium exhaust. I've never looked for one. So, I don't know how difficult to find or how expensive they are.

You can also change to titanium exhaust. ....
Mercury Marauder; list price $36,439.14 FOB Havover, PA

Weight savings 24lbs 3oz
Jenny Craig weight savings crash diet for 3 weeks @ $14.75/ week = $44.25

Dan, usually when it's time for me to return from work, I've accumulated a bunch of stuff I just couldn't live without also. I just pack enough clothes and toiletries for the trip and ship the rest. Lately Fedex ground has been the cheapest, but check the others as well. They tell me DHL has some deals too, as does UPS.

PaulI would be looking to send my old converters, new gears, other parts, my work stuff to include a printer, a loaded sea bag, and the guy who is supposed to be ridding back with me with all his stuff.:P As you see, not everything I'm driveing with belongs to me. Something might get lost going across the 10.

I ship everything from my golf bag to luggage. Box up it all up, and away it goes. If they loose it, which I doubt, they have insurance for the declared value. I don't know about shipping live things though (i.e. the guy riding back with you.) Georgie wouldn't let me put her dog in a box, so that I had to haul in the car.
