View Full Version : Kenny Brown Maurder totaled - RIP Hall Azz Marauder

Well, I am sad to report that Bill totalled his Marauder 2 days ago. He pulled out into a 4-lane median intersection and proceeded to turn left not seeing a 4-Runner coming and it plowed him in the rear. Shoved the rear bumper all the way to the back window. Luckily everyone involved was ok, but the ride is toast. He is going to find out how much buy-back is and try to buy another Marauder and swap everything out. If the buyback is too high, he just might try to start from scratch. Sorry I don't have any pics, but I have not seen the car myself yet.

It's good to hear everyone's OK. The MM was sacrificed. :bigcry: ...imagine if it was a WRX or EVO or one of those small ricey things. the bumper may have ended up on the driver's lap. Just make it happen and get another MM on track.
good luck.

It's terrible that his Marauder was totaled.
I had something similar happen, luckily the car had under 6k miles and the insurance company paid the ~20K to get it back to immaculate condition.
We talk alot about the performance drawbacks to driving a two and a half ton "sports" car. Stories like this are one of the upsides to having such a heavy, rugged car.. safety.

wow that sucks. i crashed mine in february. i store it all winter but it was a nice day so i went to the gas station. i made it about two miles from my house when a lady pulled out in front of me. i totalled her car and caused 8 grand worth of damage to mine. air bags and everything. but its fixed and it was her fault. of course. she paid for it all. hahahah

Funny you should say that being I work at a Ford dealer. No fire. So why police cars are blowing up? I would have to say not Ford's fault.

Great news for the Owner!
Though a major inconvienence, that's one check , I will be happy to write!(given the alternative).
Bad deal for the car!
I don't buy the police cars blowing up any more than another car.
Speculating, it has to do with the fuel tank having mostly vapors(low fuel),and police cars spending much of the time on the shoulder.
Kinda makes my first door ding, seem petty!

I also work for a Ford dealer. I believe that the fires have to do with the flares, bullets and other flammable items that can be stored in the trunk.

I didn't mean to cause an argument, but if the bumper was really at the back window like you said, any vehicle with a fuel tank where our's is placed would be of concern.

THE POLICE CARS DON'T HAVE A FUEL SHUT OFF VALVE IN THE BACK THAT CUTS OUT WHEN THEY GET BUMPED OR HIT FROM BEHIND. THIS HELPS THE POLICE BY NOT LETTING THE CARS CUT OUT WHEN CHASING PEOPLE. SO THE PUMP STAY ON AFTER AN ACCIDENT AN BOOM ..

I beg to differ. The beast below has the switch just like every fuel injected Ford made since 1986 (I looked in the trunk to re-verify after reading your post 1st).

The reason they are catching fire is because the accidents in question are at like 90 MPH.
This whole "Crown Vics aren't safe" media thing is bull*****. They are evaluating accidents that would have killed anyone in any vehicle and then saying it's Ford's fault.

Car is seriously damaged in the rear, but to junk a $60,000 K/B Marauder "S" 430 hp S/C car ??? Something is missing in this picture. Frame must be completely twisted the entire length of the car. I have seen body shop men put worst cars back on the road. There is more to this story.

That's Bill Hall's car, he doesn't post here, but his good friend among us is 89LXBill. Bill got rear ended at high speed and thrown around a lot. he's okay, but heartbroken, I'm sure y'all understand.
It's genuine, a real KB signature MM, and it's an 11 second Marauder too. RWHP is much more than 430, if the powertrain is cool (and I think it is) and you can get this wreck at the right price, it's a sweet deal.
Insurance company totaled it and it went to the salvage monkeys, and for a while, they wouldn't part with it. Must have had some ideas of their own that went bust, keep that in mind?
Like I said, for the right price, it's a steal, but you'll probably be bidding against Bill in this. To my knowledge, it's a bone stock engine, but with all the right bits and tuning in place. This car was the Track Champion in '04 around Portsmouth, VA. It runs hard, and as I recall it, it went deeper into the 11s than 11.99.

Exactly A
There are other vehicle that catch fire, seemingly more often in much lower speed collisions. I've heard of a couple of Hondas recently.
The media doesn't go after them.
I suspect one day it will be discovered that other car manufacturers who 'might' make a Police vehicle had money behind it all, or something.

I take it buy back was too high, but not for the salvage yard, who can list it at no reserve.

Agreed Blackened300a
From the auction, Bill the original owner has been talking to the salvage yard.
I can only guess they wouldn't sell to him for a reasonable amount.
I suspect if it doesn't reach their price at auction you'll see it ended early, despite the no reserve.

I see. What do you think it will go for? No idea. If there's any justice, it'll go for less than the bastages were trying to get outta Bill for the buyback.
(And no, I'm not privy to how much that was.) I personally wouldn't bid on it, out of respect for Bill.

In last month's Car Craft they mentioned that police lawsuits against Ford were dropped after Ford threatened to no longer sell them cars. CC's take on that was that cops would rather risk a fiery death than drive a FWD Impala.

Another thing is patrol cars seem to usually get hit while on the side of the highway by some drunk doing 70 mph or so. Anything (with a rear fuel tank) getting hit in the rear at that speed is likely to cause rupture of the tank leading to fire.

An insurance company is not going to pay more then the Actual Cash Value, which in most cases is what hte car would sell for before the wreck.
Odds are the ACV was less than the repair costs.
Insurance companies will usually let the owner have first dibs on the salvage.
There's probably more to the story.

An insurance company is not going to pay more then the Actual Cash Value, which in most cases is what hte car would sell for before the wreck. The big question is, how does one determine Actual Cash Value on a car as rare as a Kenny Brown Marauder S? Add
to that, the VIN would list this car as a Grand Marquis, and I can see where we might have a real fight on our hands.
I don't doubt that there's more to the story, but IMO, this car is rare enough to warrant repair.

They would look for sales of other Kenny B cars, talk to an appraiser and an auctioneer.
Look at what you can buy an S/C, brakes, tranny, t/c and suspension for, $12K? So what's the used value of the parts $6K max?
