Over the next two weeks I'm here in Elkhorn, WI "Horse-Sitting" two horses at my mom's place while she has some fun in Sturgis. I've taken off work, saved some money, and this is one relaxing place. Needless to say I'll have time on my hands, in fact, too much. I've had a Kenwood 400mHz TK-880H sitting in my bedroom that I got a great deal on and I will use it for the rescue squad I'm already involved with. School starts again in September during that time I will be volunteering any time when I am in Wisconsin to go on scene direct or be at the station, not running hot yet.

Back to the topic...

I'm looking for some ideas from those that have mounted radios in your cars as to where you put them? This is one unit, no remote display, and overall is the size of a palm (But not a Bradley@Dynopros palm  ) I already have the mic mount and a glass mount anntenna so I'm all set to do the install during my stay.

So any ideas?? The best I could come up with is use the large "L" bracket supplied and drill and mount to the side of my center console (passenger side) but I will not be able to see the screen easily.

You're a lot younger than I am. I don't think that I'd ever need to cover for my mom while she is in Sturgis.

I have a bracket I used to mount my XM. You could probably adapt it to your application pretty easy. It is made by ProFit International.

Its a good bracket. I use it to mount my nextel phone cradle when mobile.

That probably is not something I could get at the local Radio Shack, but I'll check the web and do some research. Thank you for the suggestion!

Jason -- it's the same one you saw my scanner head mounted to.

Thank you again guys for the ideas, but I could only sit around for so long before I went nuts. I installed it today. It took about an hour to install the glass-mount, run the wiring (Power & Signal) and mount it. It is mounted on the passenger side of the center console. As for the mic, I have a no-holes drilled mount that I got off eBay and it works great. I now have one slot holding the transmitter mic and the other one holding my iPod.

Pictures in my gallery one of these days.

I still need a cell phone mount so that is where Pro Fit International may come in. Thanks again.

Now I just need to get the channels off my hand held copied to my car's transmitter.

I need to do something about that mic, too ugly IMHO...
