So we were headed to Michigan for the week and I couldn't wait to take the 442 for a long drive. Then I got thinking, do I want a fast comfortable car with great A/C and tunes. Or do I drive a classic with poor A/C, noisey and slower. The Maruader won.

That's what it does best. Good choice, Steven. :)

with all those kids in the car, I would have figured the noise of the car was a minor concern.

Good Move. :D
Drove my 1961 Pontiac to Greenville, SC (800 miles one way) last month with no AC. NEVER AGAIN. Will trailer it next time.

The MM might come up a pinch short tho.
Nothing like the raw "au-natural" power of an Olds 455 ... the ole' Quadrajet tuned just right - opening up & trying to suck the hood insulation down the secondaries.
I must admit tho ...
There's certain "creature comforts" ya just don't have in cars years ago ... that really spoil us.
Take cupholders for instance ...
Older cars never addressed such things.

Creature comforts, definitely. In my old age, I have become very spoiled to driving a vehicle with working A/C.

Shoot, I thought about buying a 1962 Impala. Then I went home and drove the 04MM. And remembered the stuff I would have to do, to a 1962 to make it comfy and everything else.........
That wouldnt have been a good choice.
And the Merc is Soooooo cool.

Of course, with all that extra beverage carrying capacity, us, um, more seasoned citizens, need to find novel ways to exit fluid wastes.
Have you noticed how my writing has taken a more PC direction, these days? In the old days I'd have said, "piss". ;)
