I thought that would catch your eye! It is true though. The Hampton Inn has given us 4 free nights stay during MVIII because census was high enough for 4 nights out of 5, and the reward is 1 free room per night...hence 4 free nights stay. Now, the hard part....how to dole these out. Any ideas? Post up here and I will see what catches my eye. I already have a gut feeling on what to do, but I really do value other peoples opinions, unlike some around here! So please post up your ideas and lets see what sounds good.

How about the people that drove the furthest.

Do the car show thing? Give every owner attending the WDC a ballot, and the "people's choice" wins the room rebate. If the winner isn't staying at the hotel, he can still take the honor, but the free room goes to the first runner up who is staying at the Hampton Inn. With a week's lead time, I'm sure the details can get worked out. Just my .02C

Ok, maybe I didnt explain it well enough. I have to decide BEFORE anyone checks in.

Here are my thoughts...3 day auction on Ebay for the room(s). starting bid at $50, which is half of the room rate of $100. Proceeds being donated to a local charity.

How about the people that drove the furthest.Good...good...how about the folks that are the BROKEST? :P

Really though, the drawing is the best idea. However, I usually stay at the Econo Lodge across the street...and share a room....
Once you folks see that dump, I'd be a shoe in for brokest.
Did I mention I carry a sleeping bag and pillow in the car. At ALL times....:shake:

run an online contest for people who already registered. Something goofy like picking the Dow Jones closing average for Friday. 4 closest people each win a free night.

No one likes the charity thing? It's cool, 'cept the "local" thing. Let the winner select their charity of choice?

Random drawing of registered attendees in advance of check in. Four winners - one per winner.

Actually I didnt think anyone would object to the charity aspect.

Put all the names of people that bought raffle tickets = to the number they bought in a hat. That might spur the raffle sales a little more.

The Motor City Marauders have put alot of time and effort into the planning of this event. Use the free nights as small recognition of their efforts and divvy it up any way you want. Then if they elect to donate to charity ... so be it. That's my opinion. :D

Ask if you can get them in 4 coupons so you can raffle them off.
The winners will just have one night deducted from the hotel bill when they check out.

I asked about using them at the end, before checkout and she said they had to be applied before hand.

I was hoping to reach some type of concensus in what people thought. I like to support charity when possible, MI-COPS and Make a Wish Foundation are a couple I support. IF not a charity, I would rather support those that have supported MVIII with supporting the raffle.

Thanks for the offer, but we really want to see these extra nights go to MM.net guests coming to MVIII.

Not bad. I'd like to see the 4 free nights go to the 4 members that are coming to the event, staying at the host hotel, and bought the most raffle tickets. This way we are giving back to those folks that offered up the most financial support while spurring raffle ticket sales as well.

Just a thought.

Seeing how I really dont have a lot of time to devote to the idea, I like Mikes idea. How does this sound:
Applies to 4 members staying at the the host hotel for MVIII, and have purchased the most vendor raffle tickets. 4 different members will recieve one nights stay for free. Most raffle tickets purchased by Sunday, August 13 at 6pm eastern time. That what you had in mind Mike?

Actually I didnt think anyone would object to the charity I was considering, Michigan Concerns Of Police Survivors, or MICOPS. Yep, that's a bonafide charity all right, got the same COPS program going on here in Illinois.

There's also my personal choice (if I win this e-bay auction I intend to take part in), who (over the past five years) have provided missing (or, replaced broken) headstones for 63 of the 425 Chicago cops lkilled in the line of duty. Check them out here?

http://www.cpdmemorial.org

That said, I think the choice of the charity should be left to the winner of the auction, and I think the money donated to the charity of choice should compliment both the brotherhood of MercuryMarauder.Net and the brotherhood of the Motor City Marauders, and not just one alone. I wouldn't want to see the MCM cut out of the spotlight for helping the charity chosen by the winner.

Could be done real nice, in the short time now allowed.

Seriously though, while I value others thoughts and ideas, sometimes it is overwhelming to consider all the possibilities with an event this big. Know this much, I used one standard for EVERY decision that was made, and that is simply "is this decision in the best interests of the membership attending this event". Some things didnt go the way I would have liked, but more benefit from it, so it is a good decision. Those that really know me, know that I tried real hard to make decisions that would be better in the long run. It has become apparent to me that no matter what the decision is, someone will be upset or unhappy. I like that idea of helping out a member that has helped the cause, seems fair to me.

I don't understand why you feel you "don't have a lot of time" on this, but I respect that you feel pinched for time at this hour.

You asked for opinions and I have offered mine. What ever works for y'all is fine with me, just as long as our MercuryMarauder.net gets as much even play with the MCM group.

I don't want to see anyone cut out of credit for the work involved, and that could happen if the MM.Net overshadows the efforts of the MCM crew. Y'all have worked so hard on this, y'all deserve this attention and respect.

I do appreciate the opinions, but ultimately we have to make a decision. While most things have come our better than we ever dreamed of, there are a lot of little things that need attention, being pinched for time just means juggling MVIII, work, family, and sleep. We purposfully downplayed the MCM aspect of this, there are more references to MM.net through out MVIII then MCM. In fact, I dont know of a SINGLE reference to MCM other than our club banner that we fly at every event. We fully recognize the fact that this is a NATIONAL event, mearly hosted by a local club. The membership as a whole deserves a lot of credit, without their help it wouldnt have happened.

Since I must drive all the way from Central Texas, I can appreciate the thought of getting one free night's stay after paying Hundreds of Dollars for gas....

Someone driving from the West Coast can expect to pay $600-800 for the round trip.

I vote for the farthest driven idea

You've had a couple of folks saying they were goung to cancel, right? Why not use one of those rooms as a hospitality suite, and use the cupons to pay for it? :)

Not a bad thought....but we already have a hospitality suite:)
