It's soo mean looking. Its different and rare. The factory exhaust sounds beautiful. The interior seems to stretch for miles. I really don't care if it's a little laggy. I don't expect a 4000lb Merc boat to beat everything on the road. I'm really not interested in car performance as much as I used to be. As long as the car can handle it's own, you know? I never go to the track at all. I just drive it around town. I only do 5000 miles a year since I'm 18.
I'm 22 and I currently own a 96 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC with 42k on it. It's got a few mods. (http://www.cardomain.com/id/seanklsc) My car and your MMs have a few things in common, which is probably why I'm here right now. They're sleepers in a way but in reality they just have beefed up drivelines and go kinda slow. They're both really comfortable cruisers.
I'm interested in a MM because they are very affordable thanks to the depreciation. I think this is the right time to get one. Hopefully they will stick at around $15k for the next few years like the Impala SS's. I can get an 04 for the low $20k's which would put me at a hopefully affordable monthly rate with my trade-in.
So what am I looking for? A 2003 or 2004? I want the luxury options, sunroof, heated seats, whatever they had.
And is it just me or does this forum lack a For Sale section?

Price depends on what area of the country you are in and demand. If a dealer doesn't know what he has its to your advantage. Most don't know the difference between a MM and GM. Happy hunting.

I believe only the 2004 had "factory" sunroofs and heated seats. There really were not to many options on the cars, cd changer, trunk organizer, heated seats and sunroof. I would look for a 2003 300b, but I am biased :) These cars have traction control are a little plentiful and might be cheaper than 2004. There were three colors available for the 300b Black, Dark Pearl Blue, and Silver Birch.
Welcome aboard, enjoy the ride.

jeremy Are they not all available with traction control? Winters can get bad here in NYC. What do the non-TC MM's offer?
Is there a MM FAQ I can look at? I'd like to know the difference between 300a, 300b, etc

2003 300A model MMs have a full size spare tire (w/front sized tire) on a a painted rim, front seat cushion map pockets, locking gas door,stand-alone clock, and auto e-brake release. Some early 300Bs are "predecontented"- they have everything listed above but the full size spare-plus traction control.
300Bs lose all that is stated above but have traction control. You gain a chance to have light flint interior, blue or silver as exterior colors and a heated seat option.
Hope this helps.

Hope this helps. Thats great, thanks. So it sounds like I'd be looking for a black 300A model with moonroof, plus heated seats from a 300B parts car some day. Which is odd since it's first model year. I wonder why they removed all that stuff.

You'll have to add the sunroof yourself if you want a 300A.

Yeah thats what I meant. I have to find a car with the option. I'm sure it's not hard.

When I had my 300A the dealer sent it out and had the sunroof and the heated seats put in for me. The roof was about $1000 and the seats were $600.

If you look at the VIN, you can usually tell right away if it has a sunroof,
Its 2MEHM vs 2MHHM....also its pretty obvious if the car has it :)

This could be confusing. It applies to the 2004 MM with the moonroof option. Ones w/o the moonroof start with "2MEHM".
