To pay for victims of a hurricane to be burried, even though their death wasn't the result of a hurricane.

Correct you are amigo... FL has no state or city income taxes. Generally has only slightly over 6% sales tax. No "city stickers" for your car so you can park on the street (the one you already paid for with prop taxes) in front of your house you pay city and county taxes on (talkin bout Chicago area here...sorry Sgt Mac)). Seriously, turned down several pretty good job offers over the years outside of Florida after researching and finding out about the absurd tax/fee structures in some places. Still gotta pay federal income tax though.

Yup that was my point but explain this to me.

No state income tax or property tax or how does it work? I'm all confused I heard there was and wasn't and was and wasn't....:(

Federal income tax is another story...::grumble grumble grumble:: Maybe if they spent it properly, I wouldn't be so pissed to pay it.

We pay county, city and school board taxes like everybody else, plus some various special district taxes, all asessed on real property by the county property tax office where you live.

Yeah James...Texas is the same.

I can only assume that with the massive tourist revenue Florida gets, it's a break those folks deserve for tolerating us...errr....them!

What we really need to do is recend the 16th Amendment allowing Congress to collect an Income Tax and replace it with something better. The Fairtax. Before you balk have a look at http://www.fairtax.org/ and read up on HR 25 and S 25.
