I concur...use rubbing alchohol sparingly and get into every crack, edge, and niche. Use a soft brissle tooth brush to assure those spots are clean.
I then used my air compressor to dry and dust off the cleaned area.
I was able to apply mine, and several other folks with no lube. You must be very steady to do so however. One mistake and it's all over. If you do use lube as specified in the instructions, mild dish soapy water I believe, use just enough to wet the lettering so that you may slide it around a bit to fit in the spot correctly.
They must be thoroughly dry before you go driving however...or you may not come home with all the letters.:P

NO RUBBING ALCOHOL !!!
I can't BELIEVE you guys !!!
You all want to repaint his bumper ???
ISOPROPYL ALCHOHOL ONLY.
This is NOT RUBBING ALCOHOL !!!
Clean them out with a q-tip dipped in the alcohol.
Let them AIR DRY.
Remove the backing of the letter.
Set the bottom of the letter into the ebossment and stand up.
Then press in place for about 15 seconds.
Don't get the bumper wet for 24 hours.
Then you can put a light coating of wax on the letters to bring out the shine.

You want the area as clean as possible. QTips and the afore mentioned alcohol work well. Once it looks clean ....... do it one more time.

Rubbing alchohol is the generic term I and others have used for ages.
ISOPROPANOL....available at any corner store / supermarket. 3 for buck.
I have used THIS product for years on all paint to prep before ANY decal or pin stripe application. It does nothing more than remove the wax.

Test fit each letter.
After the area is super clean.
Make sure the outside temperature is warm.
Remove the plastic covering the shiney side of the inserts (can be done before or after they are installed).
Remove the covering over the tape being careful not to touch the adhesive.
Position the insert in the bottom of the recess.
Carefully press the rest of the insert into the recesss.
Repeat for the remaining inserts.
Do not wash for at least for a few days.
Wax for a nice shine.
ENJOY!! :banana2:

My SS Inserts even came with the alcohol wipes to prep the surface. :D The S.O.B. and I made it a two man operation. I was the peeler and he was the sticker. Did a test fit on each letter before starting. Like was said above ^^^ once they are stuck .... they are stuck for good !!
