Dealer replacing both units. Says he needs the car the whole day?
Just how long does it take to replace and aim a unit?
My car goes in at 07:00

Dude, to replace the bulbs with Sylvania SilverStars, the headlight buckets had to come out...20 minutes TOPS for both sides...maybe they'll spend a few more minutes checking the alignment, or more likely NOT...

I thought the bulbs just twist out at the back?

Well, they do, but it's near impossible to get the bulbs out without taking the headlights all the way out of the body! It's juist not that big of a job!

Gotcha. I have the Sylvania bulbs. Was going to do them myself as I just don't have a warm fuzzy feeling with the dealer. I don't want to do anything that they would claim voids the warranty.
I have had the DR chip for months but have not put it on. Was waiting for all these little things to be fixed.

Donald:
Wait no longer...do the chip NOW! You will kick your own a$$ for waiting when you feel the difference...
I can't image that a dealer will void any part of a warranty for having different headlight bulbs...either have them do it when they do the buckets, or do it yourself right after, it's not a big deal. All you need is a 5/16 socket or nutdriver...3 bolts each side...push down on the bumper cover while pushing the headlight buckets out from behind...it's in the owner's manual.
Just fu˘ken DO it!

I was able to change the bulbs, AFTER reading the owner's manual. Donald, it's in there under vehicle maintenance.
However, I was unable to ENTIRELY remove the head lamp assy. The underside clips would not clear the bumper. I fiddled for awhile, it did come out 3 inches or so. Exactly enough to swap bulbs.
WHATS THE TRICK TO FULL REMOVAL????
ADVICE, get some of those rubber surgical gloves (I swipe some every time I see my Doc.) You can totally handle the bulbs with no issues. Have always done it this way

The trick is to push down on the bumper cover, while kind of jiggling the headlight assy...there's no simple way to describe it...they do come all the way out using only common swear words...no need to be creative.
Good idea about the surgical gloves, CRUZ...although when you get to be my age, you're a little leery of people wearing those...
Especially when they say "lean forward please"
and you hear them snap the gloves as they put them on.
:help:

Thanks RF. I just had the fear of scratching up the bumper assy.
Next time I will have the wife assist. I have installed WAY too many scratches already.
