My father's friend had installed my JLT RAI kit into my car so I tried it out this week....
You can hear its air induction....a 'SSSS' sound when I had the hood open.
Taking it around town I noticed I felt my exhaust more throaty in the cabin. It sounded like my Kooks package's sound had extended into the bottom and front of my car instead of just the back. I felt that throttle response was better, I wasn't so sure about how much faster the car was. But you could definitely 'feel' a difference in the car, like the exhaust package was completel now. It just felt like an overall completion--- I dont know if that makes sense. Bottom line, there might be a slight difference in performance, but the extra sound that the intake provides with the intake? Feels like that sound is more than the performance. Then again I was in 90 degree weather.......Perhaps it'll be nice when it's cooler.
Well not to be rude and skip the cold weather testing, I quickly jump to reflashing the car........ I got my Alternative Auto XCal2, I installed it in a sling and everything(motorcycle accident) easiest upgrade I've ever had....
So I tested it later.......tonight at about 3am.....
Overall experience is excellent. If you're thinking about buying it? BUY IT.
Cruising around (for all you guys who aren't familiar with converter lock-up like me) the engine is not constantly upshift for cruising, it stays at a gear which is appropriate for a good downshift. Downshifts are much quicker, the car is much more responsive. It feels like a different car. Even on the handling-tip, the way the car shifts now, I feel it much better for turns as well.
A lot of you are wondering how it does on a performance level, who wouldn't? The programming is amazing, I thought my car was quick with the Kook's system, then again I was wrong. The quicker shifting (especially now at 6 thousand Revs) and whatever horsepower/torque gains the reflash gives you is totally worth it- I found myself with a much 'happier' 0-60. although I did not time it. I had an open straight and WOT'd to 110 in no time (those without Kooks may not experience same 'no time') That's just with the 3.55 program. I'm trying to get my 4.10s installed soon. Will let you guys know what's giong on.
I wonder how fast the top speed is now? I'll see what I can do when I'm on that long boring Penn Turnpike going back to school.
So how does this whole package work as one? Well the kook's for one, is a very very loud system, it really gives you what you need, but for a price- there is no way to be discreet. The JLT gives that little bump and a throaty in cabin sound that feels nice. The Alternative Automotive Tune is what every car needs. Period.
However Lidio's tune seems to have dulled down the sound of my Kook's exhaust. But take it from me right now, this is not a complaint. I was gaining much attention from the PoPo as we call them around here kids my age...and it felt like Lidio's tune turned my SOUND into HORSE. That's just what I can interpret it as. The Raucous sound that came from my exhaust, the popping from hitting the rev limiter, all gone. If you think about exhaust in terms of hi's mids and lo's. The kook's before was a Hi kind of exhaust. All treble, no bass. Now it feels like a very powerful mid. I'm glad my car isn't the loudest thing on the planet anymore (im still wondering what happened though)
But I can tell you right now. The new acceleration on my car is heart-sinking, Curing my low-end torque needs and I still haven't touched the 4.10s yet :)
Hope you guys enjoyed some of this.
