View Full Version : My latest mod.
My latest mod is costing me 315 bucks. I'm having the cracked windshield replaced with a nice, one-piece, 'not cracked' one. Figure it will shave a bazzillionth off my 1/4 mile time...

Your 1/4 should be much better being the new glass is clean and has less dead bugs slowing you down.

Actually, w/tax it was just under $290 - except the insurance paid it all w/zero deductable on the glass coverage!
Someone at work mentioned glass coverage, I'm not sure if I have that. My insurance company asked if the crack could be covered if I laid a dollar bill over it. I said no, but maybe if you laid about 6 end to end it might. I guess if it's smaller than a dollar bill it would not have to be totally replaced. Bummer. :(

Early 03s [300A] had tinted windshields. A nice thing here in Florida...:)
I wonder if thats why they asked for the build date, and told me there were 2 different kinds for 2003. Then they asked if I wanted OEM or after market. with a measly 15 dollar difference I asked for OEM. I'm going to call back and ask about that shaded jammy tomorrow....
I don't know how y'alls got cracked but I was doing a low-level bombing run (speeding, but not quite ludicrous speed) from Norfolk Naval Base back to my house in Hampton and something hit me. It was so loud I let off the gas and prayed it wasn't an ejected rod for a second. Freakin terrorist mo-fo's probably..

Early 03s [300A] had tinted windshields. A nice thing here in Florida...:)Yes, your right the early 03's had a "shaded" windshield. Most of ours don't have this blue shaded band towards the top. It is a nice option though. When I get a new one I'm putting a "shaded"(green tint thoughout with 4inch blue shade at the top) one back in. Many late 03's and all 04's are "tinted" (green tint throughout).

Also for everyone, ask for oem!! It fits much better than aftermarket. The oem brand is called "Carlite." So if you need your windshield replaced always ask for a "Carlite."(If its a ford product!) Hope this helps!:D

There at least three different windshields. The go by production date.

I was driving to work and a stone seemed to have come out of no where. No trucks or anything in front of me, like it fell from the sky, but I'm betting it got chucked from someone's tire and kissed my windshield.
Brian, send me a PM with a price for shaded/non-shaded and what exactly is shaded? Is that the upper 6 or so inches are faded blue? Since the chip isn't horrible and isn't even deep, this will be a fix later down the road but so far I've got my guy picked out and a price will soon be in my Private Messages Inbox  This brings an end to a quest though, I knew someday I would have to replace it, but by who or when I had no clue. Thank You Sir!
