Impressive.

How do you adjust the aim?

With the stock adjustment. Its mounted to the reflector housing. I have them aimed parallel with the top and bottom, so any minor adjustments will be done through the stock adjusting screw.

Hey guys, its all done. Tonight i'll get some night pictures. But here they are on the car ready to be driven.

The reason they are "glowing" is because i used a flash.

I am considering it. It is a lot of work involved, and they wouldnt be "street legal" since they are modified. But, from what i read, if you use oem components, and they are set up the same way as the oem intended, you shouyldnt have any trouble.

These lights have high and low beam, and will be fully adjusted tonight as not to blind oncomming traffic.

The whole project took me about 16 hours, and if i decide to make a few for you guys, i would need a waiver signed and such so im not liably for any legal problems or other problems that could arise. im guessing around $200 for the labor + all the parts.. If someone is interest, i can do it. If there is high enough interest, i may do it.

let me know,

Frank

Looks awesome!!!

Any plans to possibly make a dual projector light? Seems like it needs more in there...looks a bit empty. Maybe a projecter and regular bulb for the high beams.

But still, awesome job!!! Looks very professional.

I originally wanted a dual projector light, but in order to maintain the factory height adjustment, you can only do 1 projector. You MAY be able to squeeze in 2 small ones, but there is a very good chance you'll lose the height adjustment. And i dont care how good you are, you cant mount it and have it perfectly aimed, just too many variables! It would look better with 2, but only one xenon will fit.
You can however do another small foglight projector inside there, but the bad news is if/when the bulb goes out, you'll need to remove the lens to change it. Right now, i just have to turn off the back cover to change the bulb. Just like factory.

More pics will be posted tonight.

Maybe it wouldn't look so empty and not needing more lights if the lights could have stayed crome and not all blacked out? Did you put the lens cover on before you painted the buckets and what did it look like? Don't forget, you can probubly use Grand Marquis light assys so you wouldn't have to worry about finding OEM one's if something happened.

I hear ya. Either way, awesome job.

Are the single projectors bi-xenon? I'd be curious to see the beam pattern from low and high beam.

My single projectors are bi xenon, there is a cutoff shield inside that flaps down when activated, so instead of the cutoff, you just have a wall of light. I'll try to get some pics of the bi xenon up tonight.

The problem is the transition from shroud to the reflector. When painted black, you dont notice any transition lines or imperfections. With chrome, you would see EVERYTHING and any stray light would reflect off the chrome, which you do not want from a projector setup.

Im looking for opinions on how to perform this service.

Would you folks rather pick up/order the bulbs, ballasts and projectors yourself, then ship me all the components and i can put it together.

-or-

Have me order all the parts and pay for the lump some of all the components.

Either way works for me, let me know which way would be easier.

Hello, I am new here and I had a few questions about your HID retro. I found your post over on HID planet too anyway questions are, did you use a relay to drive the ballasts? What kind of car did the projectors come from? and where did you mount your ballasts? Could you post some pics under the hood.

Where did you get the projector lenses? They look like a gutted CTS or Escalade lamp assy. Don't ask me how I know that!

In the photos they look to be aimed slightly to the left instead of the right?

Ok, here it goes!!

Im using 2 relays (one for each side)to drive the ballast, along with a special circuit to drive the "high beam" (which just moves the shield inside of the projector).

The projectors are off of a bmw X5. They were pre "gutted" on ebay, they usually go for around $100 for the pair.
Its too dark for pix, i'll get them up later, but if you remove the plastic shield covering the headlight assembly towards the front of the car, thats where the ballasts are mounted.

Real sweet . Like the projector style housing. Different from the other HID's I have seen for our car.
