I just installed my tans temp sender and mounted a painted guage cluster. Went for a test drive and I have power becuase the green light pops on but no moving of the needle. I installed the sender in the trans service port. I used terminal rings on all the connectors and grounded it to above the front left shock. Should I move my ground? any ideas? Thanks.

Did you install the sender with teflon tape?

No. That could have created the problem.

My sender and guage is set up the same way. It takes a loooooong time, but it will work. Take it for a good 1/2 hr ride and see.

BTW, there are other options for reading the tranny temps. Search around.

Yes I know I have the manifold that is best on the output line from the TC but Im not going to do that until I install my trans temp cooler waiting in my trunk.

I sealed it with teflon tape , still wont come off the dial. Ill go some where this week and try it out. Is it ok that I used terminal ring crimps?

I'm not sure what your gauge should read, i.e. what the gradations are. My gauge is digital, show it shows ambient temp when the car has been sitting a long while. Generally, as the trans temp increases from ambient to operating temps, the change is in 4-6 degree jumps over a period of time (about fifteen minutes, depending on outside temps) then it settles to 2 degree increases up to normal range.

BTW, noticed yesterday, hot day and lots of traffic both the trans temp and coolant temp gauges were 10 degrees warmer than normal.
