Anyone know how to test the spark coils on our engines???
I heard that it is hard to determine which one may/may not be breaking down??!! Do you just replace them all if one is suspected bad or intermittantly bad??

I know with my past 99 SOHC 4.6L C.O.P. design I could just unplug the coil and if the misfire got worse, the coil was good, if it stayed the same, I found the culprit. Can you do that with this engine?

A scantool should tell you if there is a misfire, either active or stored, if the misfire is bad enough.
On another note, sometimes COPs get pinholes in the silicone boots and ground out, may wanna have a gander at those plug boots.
Good luck

Normally its a bad boot or a cracked plug check all the plugs for a carbon mark or crack, the boots can be bought seperate and WDS can check for a individual weak or missfiring cylinder
