Anyone have any realistic figures on gas milage? Also, with a car this heavy would 4.10 gears help or hurt in town gas milage? Thanks!

Jeb

Hoping to by one!!!

Jeb, with 4.10 gears City/Hwy (Mostly Hwy 70 MPH) I averaged 19.4 MPG this last tank. It is usually lower, near 16 or 17 MPG around town the whole tank.

Before my Marauder was supercharged, I removed the 3.55 gears and installed the 4.10's, and then after still not being satisfied with the acceleration the 4.10's provided, I went with 4.56's. I noticed a 2 MPG reduction with the 4.10 gears, and an additional 2 MPG reduction with the 4.56's.

See my sig for mods...
19.355 / MPG is what I just got on a 276.7 mile round trip - 99.5% highway driving, used cruise control as often as possible (about 80+% of the time - 7MPH over the speed limit), high heat & humidity, A/C on all the time. All had to drop the hammer 2 or 3 times to get around some slow pokes that refused to get out of the "fast" lane............. :banana2: :banana2:

BTW gas was $2.72 for high test.

I just filled up for the first time from half a tank. averaged 13.7 around town driving this last week. I'm breaking in my Kooks setup and PI TC, and 180 t-stat. I've had the 4.10's since Jan 2005. Averaged around 16-17 mpg. I also travel with about 100 extra pounds of work-related gear in the MM. mileage should get a tad better, if'n i take the lead out of my shoes.

Around town, I also get 13-14 MPG (depnding on how many burnouts I do, and how hardcore I get with the throttle in general :D ) w/the 4.56 gears and the Trilogy supercharger. Perhaps the headers and 2.5" diameter exhaust is helping my gas mileage a little bit.

I Filled Up My Tank Yesterday, About 16 Gallons Cost Me $57. All I Get Out Of Of A Full Tank Is 190 Miles Tops, With 4.10 Gears. I Also Have A Supercharger But, It Has Absolutley Not Effected Mpg In Everyday Driving As Much As My 4.10 Gears. Before I Installed My 4.10 Gears I Was Getting About 230 Miles On A Full Tank.

And I assure you that I definately do NOT baby my car. I'm into the boost on a daily basis (although there are a few days here and there when I don't hit full throttle at all).

Do you have the factory exhaust still? If so, then perhaps that would explain my 4.56 gear equipped MM getting better gas mileage than your 4.10 gear equipped one does. BTW, the Trilogy S/cer has only reduced my gas mileage by about 1 MPG. I think that's because of the by-pass valves (or blow-off valves w/the centrifugals) that the S/Cers have, which prevents the engine from being into the boost at throttle positions that are less than half throttle.

WOW...

I usually get close to 300 mles to a tank. Sometimes 280, sometimes 330. Most of the time I get 19 mpg.

If you're car has stock gears, you should get around 300 miles out of a full tank or about 70-80 miles out of a quater tank. If you are getting worse than these figures, you should a. consider rolling your windows up more or b. getting a tune up.

On a long trip when I'm only driving on the highway, I get 300 miles out of a tankfull even w/the 4.56's providing I stay at 70 MPH, and I don't get into the boost at all, and I pretty much keep the engine revs under 3,000 RPM's. I did that one time just to see what kind of mileage I'd get. But not being able to get into that throttle at all was like a jail sentence to me!!! :D

Therefore, most of the time, I'm rompng around alot w/my car, and I'm reving the engine alot higher than 3,000 RPM's often. So all of this has much to do w/how heavy your foot is while you're driving.

You could be running your car as easy as 2500rpm shifts and you'd still whooping people left and right. For christ sakes, my car whoops people left and right and I let it shift at 3500rpm and the only serious performance mod I got is u/d pullies! You got 4.56 gears and a supercharger man! You shouldn't have to run it so hard on the street! http://mercurymarauder.net/forums/images/smilies/burnout.gif

But besides that, when someone starts messing w/me on the street, and there's very little traffic along w/an open road where I can unleash the beast under the hood, I don't like to just string people along and beat their car by just a little bit. I usually hit WOT and beat them all out. I can't help it, I'm a show off I guess. :D Another thing is, that there are some fast cars out there these days! that 03 Vette I beat the other week took all out WOT from my car. but a few months ago a guy w/some type of new Volve raced me, and although I beat em, I was amazed at how close he came to keeping up w/me!! Who would've ever thought that Volvos would be quick???

WELL, MY EXHAUST IS STOCK BUT, I'M GOING TO BE UPGRADING PROBABLY TO THE DR COBRA EXHAUST. I WAS CONSIDERING THE KOOKS BUT I DON'T FEEL LIKE PULLING ENGINES AND WHAT NOT. I AM ALSO GOING TO BE INSTALLING A 3000 PI TC NEXT WEEK, SO ONCE ALL THAT IS DONE ITS DYNO AND TUNING TIME. IT HAS NOT BEEN DYNOED AND FINE TUNED YET SO
MAYBE I'LL GET SOME BETTER MPG AFTER THAT BUT, I HIGHLY DOUBT I'LL GET ANYTHING CLOSE TO 300 MPG LIKE FORDNUT, IT WOULD BE NICE THOUGH.

That seems a little high. Does anyone else get those numbers?

I just did a 600 mile round trip. Kept it at 80-82 on the way up and got 20.4. Set the cruise at 85 for the return and got 19. Stock car with just me and about 300 lbs of diving gear.

My MV3 mileage averaged an astounding 19.25 mpg. Bear in mind that I have 4.30 gears and this included lots of stop and go Woodward driving and a little crazy WOT's on Stephenson Highway.

Since my re-tune at Sutton my MPG has increased nicely. Just goes to show what a good tune can do.

I got about 19mpg highway and after I changed my computer settings with the superchips microtuner I was getting 21 mpg. I still have the 3.55 gears and most of the car is still stock. The most noticible thing was my empty light would go on around 290 miles after a fill up and sometimes it won't go on till 340. No the light is not defective and yes it does depend on how you drive it. I was doing 70 for around 4 hours and might have been able to go close to 400 miles but usually shes dead at 340.

I just got 17 mpg on the last tank with my car. It may be a bit closer to 16 but it's around there. I have a stock car with under drive pulleys as the only real mod. The rest are listed in my signature. So I'm pretty happy with her for now.

I'm seeing around 17.5 mpg around town. But, I got 22.7 mpg on a 300 mi highway trip a few weeks back, that was cruising 77-78mph with the AC cranking! I have the 3.90 gears and a DR SCT tune(slightly modified by me)...

Jeb - Welcome to the MM site. :D A stock Marauder will get approximately 24 MPG on the highway. (2200 RPM -75MPH)My stock 03' would average 20MPG with 50/50 highway/city. I'd hit a solid 25 on highway trips. My 04 with the DR tune and 4.10's gets 17.6 under the same conditions. I travel about 270 miles per week. Thats about 1.84 gallons more a week. At 2.75 a gallon that's about $263 a year. If gas prices continue to rise the stock tune and gears may find thier way back in.

I consistently get 14-16 mpg in 100% city driving and 19-21 mpg in 100% city driving. 50/50 nets me 18-19 mpg. This is a 2000 Crown Vic with 26" rear tires and 3.55s - it's NOT a Marauder but I thought I'd put in my #s for comparison. My Vic should have the same aero drag but 200 lb lighter. The EPA rating for the 00 CVPI was 16/21, and 18/25 for the civilian Vic. But it was ascertained that it is nearly impossible to net 25 mpg on a 00 Vic with 3.55s.

For the guy that was getting 12-13 mpg (has Al Capone in his avatar) have you checked to make sure your MAF transfer function is dialed in correctly? I used to get 10-13 mpg in 100% city driving when I was using a non-stock MAF with a non-stock airbox with a half-assed MAF transfer function.... When i went to the 2003 Marauder MAF and 2003 Marauder airbox with the 2003 Marauder MAF transfer function, the gas mileage spiked up to about 14-16 mpg. :pimp:

I have a "Lidio Type" tune that locks the TC in 4th gear only at 50 MPH and get 20+ MPG around town and 23-24 MPG on the highway at 75-80 MPH!!! :banana2: :bows:

My absolute best so far is 26.4 MPG but in cooler air.....currently 85-95 degrees with humidity so ya can't expect the best power or gas mileage!! :argue:

I got 350 miles on 18.3 gallons back from MVIII.

I flooged it a little for the first fifty miles and the last 25 miles.Mostly cruised @ 55-65 :P
Also got caught in a Chicago traffic jam for over an hour.

I have had my car for 3 days and the second day I took a long road trip I was averaging around 100 miles per 1/4 tank. When I eventually did fill up I calculated 21.5mpg that was with cruise control going from 70-80.

Around town, with a heavy foot, I typically see about 16mpg. The ride back from MVIII, cruise control at 70, i managed 22.4mpg.

The above is with a tune, JLT and 4.10's :D

Okay mileage whiners, lets say you get an average loop (city/Hwy) of 18mpg. Well assume you drive the requisite 12K miles per year. Thats a total of 666.7 gallons (total coincidence that number) used per year in your gas guzzler.

So we were at $2.60 or so a gallon here not long ago and people were not happy about it but could live with it. Now lets say we go to $3/gal, so thats a total of an extra $267 per year extra. Would I rather have it in MY pocket? Yes. Do I blow more than double that on impulse buys in the checkout line? Hell yes. Damn I spend more than that on High test for my bar at home!

I'm not saying its small potatoes, it can make the difference for some folks, but we are talikng a difference of $5 per week. Bring a bag lunch to work, it will do good for the wallet and your midsection.....and hey I'm not immune to it either.
