Okay folks, I'm about to have the gears changed and a Diablo Chip installed, as well as a shift kit.

Is it me, or is no one having that done? Maybe the right question is, does it need to be done?

Last silly question, what should having all three done cost?? I've put a deposit down, but if you all give me about the same figure, and its lower than what I was quoted, I may reconsider. PM's are fine..

:help:

Use Dennis's chip and gears and no shift kit is necessary. Then do the Torque Converter and you'll be all set.

Labor prices vary so much by location and given the fact that I am in NY where everything is too expensive, I don't want to comment on installation charges.

Only "shift kit" I've ever heard for these types of trannies is:
1. Tranny reprogramed by the comp, or...
2. Drilling out the valve body.

What exactly entails this "shift kit"?

Which is why I've contacted the SVT dealership in Topeka who's doing the work for me. Will post the answer when I get it.

Meanwhile, where are folks putting their switches? Compartment near the shifter???

I put mine on the drivers side kick panel at the top, Out of reach but easy to get to when needed.

Got an email back from the dealership, apparently they were thinking of putting a valve in the transmission. But, they called the Diablo folks, and were told that the valve that's in there will work very well with the chip.

So, I take it to Topeka tomorrow and they should start Wednesday. They wanted to have it for at least two days in case they run into any problems installing the 4.10's.

Unless someone suggests differently, I'm going to have them put the switch in the console.

:D

KSM.....Your car, put the switch where you want to. Outta sight, outta mind, as they say. Also keep noisy fingers from playing with the switch. Just my $.02's

Two days to do the gears?????? The pros do this in two or three hours with a guy like me behind 'em bending their ears.

Make sure they know what they are doing or go elsewhere!
