I didnt talk to zack and dont know where or what he heard, but I too heard that two people had 'issues' with their transmissions.
It does not mean that everyone did not have a great time, because I am sure they did.
To avoid a repeat of events that occured in what seems to be eons ago, we should all let those directly involved post their 'issues' so we can all learn from them. There was also a third transmission 'issue' that I know about too - a non-trilogy car, unrelated to event that occured during mv3. Again, the person that this relates to should post this when he feels comfortable doing so.
Zack rebuilt his transmission and when the time comes for mine to be in the need of service I would entrust him to work on mine. I personally think his queries are genuine and that he seeks to learn from them.
And Zack's pristine '57 [or 59?] Big Black Cadallac would have looked awesome on Woodward. I would have even chipped in for gas money to get it there just to cruise in it for a couple of hours.

Was it your intent to take a shot at "Trilogy" and/ or its customers?
For the record, if your thinking of me, I had my Trans MODDED by Lidios crew, not repaired.

Exactly. That's why it is obvious what zack's motives were when he pointed out "Trilogy cars" in his question.
LOL...we are all quite aware that this thread is another "drive by" courtesy of zack. Hit n run. One line flamers meant to cause trouble and be hurtful. Its what he does now....rather consistently I might add.
Its a shame to see him stir it up yet again in an attempt to ruin the goodwill generated by MVIII. It clearly indicates that he beleives his own agenda is more important than the friendships forged during the event.
He could have come. He could have been there to see for his own eyes what happened. He chose not to. But, from the comments I heard from many of our guests, he was not missed.

Well it was just great to wake up to this.I for one missed you at MVIII.You have one of the faster cars on the site,You are well liked by most,You do awsome work and detail on our grille`s.For two years in a row at Barry`s we had a great time. You and Mac really missed a good time.Just because you guys don`t like a couple of our members you could have come and hung out with the other 70 some cars that came. You guys came to Indy last year and if I remember you didn`t like those same MCM members then eather but everyone got along and if I remember you also won your gruge match at the track.Time waits for no one and how many more Marauderville`s will happen no one knows. The thrill everyone has for there cars will fade and all everyone will have are the memories and I know mine will be good ones.

I agree. If there are issues with supercharged cars and their transmissions, I sure hope the affected people step forward and relate their experiences. Trilogy or not, we are talking about transmission problems here.
Were they stock trannies?
Were they modded prior to failure?
If so, which mods and what failed?
How did they fail?
What actions were taken to correct the problems?
(is that better?)

If I recall correctly, Jerry Barnes once said....
"Dont wast your money on spark plugs, thermostat or costly transmission upgrades, you dont need it with my kit"
You people up there will do everything in your power to build the Trilogy kit up to be the best thing since sliced bread.
I know some cars had trouble, what the extent is I dont know. Keeping it a secret from current kit owners and prospective buyers is not the answer.
This is a wake up call that all supercharger kits will blow your trans, funny how Mac and I have known this all along.
You guys are still years behind Mac and I regarding the learning curve of Marauders. Sorry if that sounds Big-Headed, but its the stone cold truth.
And to those who had trouble this weekend, I hope you get your issues resolved quickly. God knows Ive been there myself, more than once.

Give me a break.
I read almost all the threads about S/Cs during my research. I do not recall seeing any trans troubles being reported by anyone with a base (Pick your vender and insert here) S/Cer kit.
I modded my car with a device that increased the drive train out put by almost half! The stock trans was designed to handle "X" HP. If it breaks, I'll fix it.
If you claim censorship, consider this is not the only forum for the MM. The trouble would have been "out" already.
Too bad you didnt show up at MVIII. You would have seen and heard for yourself instead of all this BS highschool crap.

There's always the other side of the story to consider, I think you got Zack wrong on this.
I'm the guy who told Zack that two Trilogy cars lost their transmissions at the race track. In fact, I said it exactly that way. He asked for more information, but I didn't have any more details to share.
I didn't make it up. I got phone calls from folks who said they were trackside, and I got e-mails about it the next day. I believe these resources more than what I read here. Don't waste any time proving, or, disproving this, transmission failure isn't the problem here.
But, I'll say this. Things break. The only Marauder not breaking anything is the one put up in storage, which is a sin IMHO. It's unimportant to me if it's a Trilogy car, or not, I relayed the message the way I heard it, and without malice in any form. Moreover, if it is true, how could this "spoil" MV-III? I blew my tranny at MV-I, so, did Zack, and we still had a great time, the ride home is still a great story today. Likewise, the compassion and concern we got from our MM family at MV-I has not worn out. I continue to have many friends today, because I met them there. IMHO, it's impossible to spoil this spirit when it's real.
Now I'll tell you what was on Zack's mind. In the corner of his garage sits a freshly built 4R70W, all new and high performance internals, with a PI 3500 stall converter. For the crews going to MV-III, we had a repair shop on tap a few blocks from our meet location, just in case anything was coming loose. We are likewise prepared to help anyone our way on their way home. You're not going to find tranny parts on Sunday around here, so, Zack was prepared to part it out, or, install it complete if this was necessary to get someone home. This man is more talented than you give him credit for, he can do R&R swaps in four hours, complete rebuilds in 6. Zack's probably going to be pizzed I posted this, but so what.
Y'all make a lot of presumptions about what folks mean, but all that really tells us, is how y'all think.
Y'all presume I didn't go to MV-III because I don't like someone, and I didn't show at Joliet because I don't like someone. For the last freaking time, I had to work, period. I'm the boss, and when my staff is out sick, or, on vacation, I have to fill in for the missing body. This is why I missed MV-II, or have y'all forgotten about that.
Now turn this around on me, slap me around for speaking out on behalf of a trusted friend. That's okay here, but only when you do it.

O.K.,
This is an easy one. Dave Popovich's car had transmission problems and not for the first time. Dave can post the details of his transmission issues and they have existed almost since day one. Lidio has work on this problem for Dave for over a year. We don't what causes the problems to reoccur, but it does.
.......
John Taxin from Phili was the other transmission problem and Lidio is working on that problem. I do not know if Lidio had beefed up John's trans prior to this, but I will let Lidio fill in the details on this subject. by the way, John's car is one of the highest mileage Trilogy cars on the road. I believe 60 or 70 thousand miles.
One thing I will remind everyone of, the cars that have had trans problems mentioned here are not stock Trilogy Kits and have been modified extensively to add MORE, yes I said MORE, horsepower then came with the kit. If you go to the levels that these gentlemen have gone to with their cars, you will break something once and awhile.
I have not had a problem with Trilogy #1 or #2 and once again I beat those cars. When I replaced the engine in #1, I did beef up my trans.
Anyway, that;s what I know.
I missed you at Joliet, Zack???????? I REALLY wanted to see you at Joliet, Zack!!!!!! Or maybe you were there at the Show & Shine Car Event?????????
MarauderVille III was unbelievable and I had a great time meeting with new friends and seeing old friends. Once again, this is a great club and a great website!!!!!!!! So I will not let anyone rain on my parade, or cruise!!!!
IT WAS A PLEASURE BEING WITH EVERYONE, I LOOK FORWARD TO NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!

Hey,
I want to apologize for mentioning Dennis in my last post on this subject. I did not mean to infer that something was wrong with Dennis's installation and its affect on the transmission. I just thought people were looking for a summary of transmission problems that were experienced during MVIII. If we really want to share feedback on respective transmission issues, then I will start a thread and everyone can list the things that have happended to them so we can understand what went wrong, what was the fix and what to avoid in the future. Not just the things that happened at MVIII. Dennis and I are good friends and I would not want anyone think because we take different approaches to a power solution, we dislike one another. We are good friends and we will stay that way!!!
Thanks
Jerry

It seems to me that most of the S/Ced Marauders that have had transmission problems have been the guys who take the power levels over the 430 RWHP mark. I believe all of the guys mentioned in this thread who have had transmission failures are past that power level (ie. Zack, MAC, John, Dave, etc., etc). That's one of the reasons why I've left my car with the 9.5 PSI Trilogy pulley on it, and I've been content with 400 RWHP. Low 12's in the quartermile is just fine for me for a 4,200 LB daily driver. Which is what my car is. I have the transmission flushed and filled w/new fluid twice per year by my dealer.
So far, my transmission is fine, and I have 32,000 miles on the car, 21,000 of those miles being supercharged. And the transmission is bone stock. it was never opened up, and has only been dropped once in order to install the after market torque converter. I once read on a post by the former Ford engineer himself (Jerry W.) that these transmissions in their stock configuration are good for up to 430 RWHP, based on what I've seen from the board members here, I believe him. I also suspect that using a stall speed higher than 3,000 RPM's might be beating up peoples' transmissions also. but I suppose that we can start debating about that too, however that isn't my desire to do so. people can PM me if they want to know exactly why i suspect that. I guess only time will tell when it comes to that though.

I am constantly trying to improve every thing I offer for this car, I know Jerry does the same, I once talked to Jerry about idler pulleys. Jerry and I both had issues with this when we first started building our different SC kits, the idler pulley bearings were failing, this is called research and development. Another example is the kit we install in the transmissions, originally we used someone other than Art Car, but I felt Art Car did a better job so I went with them, and for almost the last 2 years I now sell nothing but Art Car, they have impeccable service. I choose to rebuild the transmission before it fails. I am not saying this has to be done, but this is way I feel, based on my experience, Art car makes a superior product they have great service and delivery, They just recently upgraded the rigid forced lube circuit to a braided flexible steel line, Another example of R&D look at the Proguard its been revised twice now, if I have a problem with any thing its immediately addressed, if it were not for you the members none of the vendors would be here. That's what makes this the best site on the net, no flame wars period We are not here to bash each other. We are here to learn and grow as a club and as friends and customers.

Try to make an effort to type the same words you would say to a guy sitting next to you having a beer. Anyways something Jerry said struck me as a good idea and a way to have something positive come from this not so friendly thread: Transmission Talk a forum totally dedicated to our 4R70W & 4R75W transmissions.
It would be about the TRANSMISSION , problems, modifications, fixes, repairs. This would be a forum to make things better, not put anybody down.

Wow, I guess Mac and Zack couldnt let us enjoy things at Marauderville, or as they put it...Trilogyville. Mac, we had fruit punch and lemonaide at the Burger King, but no Kool Aid. Naturally Zack got his information from Mac, who got it from someone else. First off, I think it is in poor taste for Zack to post this in the Trilogy forum. Secondly, since it is agreed that you got your information 2nd or 3rd hand, did you think that it could be wrong? If that was the case, it might have been nice to contact those people in person, you do know how to PM dont you? Then perhaps ask them if they mind telling you about it, or telling you to get bent, and it isnt any of your business. Didnt your source tell you about a vortech car with trans problems, not that you would say anything about that. I wont, because its no one elses business about the vortech car, and i RESPECT that person enough not to smear it around in another vendors forum. Its uncalled for and wrong, but you and Mac seem to slide by with your snide comments and hit and run one liners.
Now...Mac has been incorectly informed on my TRILOGY Marauder's transmission "failure", as he put it. I got in 5 passes, and as I mentioned in the other thread, my Nittos were useless. At first I was ready to blame the track prep, but quickly found out others were hooking up just fine with the ungodly low end torque in their Trilogy cars. Mike and I went to the Nitto well once to many times, and it bit us in the ass. On my last pass, almost at the end of the run, I could sense a feeling as if I was lifting off the gas, and the rpm's slowly rose. Knowing I hadnt lifted, sensing something wrong, I immediatly lifted and went back to the pits. I tried a couple of wide open throttle runs down a blacktop access road, and it ran fine. Since the tires werent hooking up and fearing a trans problem, I decided to load the car up and head back to the hotel to prepare for that nights Cruise from the Burger King, 50 Marauders cruising Woodward, and help Donna with the welcome reception at the Host Hotel. When I got back to the hotel, it dawned on me that I had never tried to diagnose the problem, not seeing much reason to do so. So I took a gamble, offloaded the car, and proceeded look it over. What a dunce, I had never checked my trans fluid level after replacing the tail shaft seal when it leaked a couple of months ago. The trans fluid was just about 2 quarts low. When I told Lidio about it later on, the first thing out of his mouth was how was the trans fluid level! I feel stupid for not checking it at the track, but with MVIII going on, I had a lot on my mind. After adding fluid, I went on to BEAT the crap out of it. There are 100 yard burnout marks on 3 sides of the hotel to prove it. It ran ok with no obvious problems with the trans slipping. I felt confident enough to take the truck and trailer back home, and get a ride back to the hotel. I drove the car the rest of the event, including cruising woodward, several trips to and from the Burger King and Hotel, driving to breakfast, and finally driving home from breakfast, about an hour drive. I am happy to say that It appears to be fine. If I can help anyone diagnose a trans problem, I would be happy to share my experiences, as long as it doesnt include the dynamic duo spreading bad info. Its a shame you guys couldnt make it, you could have fould out what happened right there and known what was going on instead of embarassing yourselves again. Peace.

Some of you I've met in person, and you're great people I wish I could see you more, and some of you are still avatars and signatures on a screen. Someday I hope you meet you all, shake your hand, and shoot the ***** as long as I can keep up.
Now I don't want to be the hippie on the board, spreading flowers and happiness rays out my ass, but seriously folks. All kidding aside. Do you guys really need to do this? It's a friggin' supercharger. Maybe we need a pop-up window after you click "Submit Reply" that says "Final Answer?" So you can first go over what you typed and attempt to avoid starting trouble. A little self control, on both sides, could go a long way around here. I'm not a shining perfect example, but I DO know that if I want drama, if I want to start trouble, if I got a bone to pick with someone, hell...I could call up my girlfriend one week out of the month and cool down. If you catch my drift.
So thanks to the above people in the posts for coming up with ideas, or offering in a way "Constructive Criticism" to solve this problem rather than point fingers. And to those pointing fingers, you know who you are, and you're just as good in my book as you were before you started pointing fingers. I know how you feel and can understand, but I'm just taking a shot here and I for one don't like seeing the MercuryMarauder Soap - Change the channel  To those who read all this and don't feel any different...hah-hah, I just wasted a minute of your time :baaa:

Ugh. I'm just going to make this one die.
I've met all of you personally. You all have the best of intentions, I know. But your ability to not make asses of yourselves coming and going is absolutely monumental.
Why does everybody keep assuming there's some grand conspiracy afoot?
