Originally, we were planning to avoid the cruise traffic this year, but last week a friend who works for GM engineering Chevys invited us to a colleague's house, who lives about half a block off Woodward, for a Dream Cruise party. Our friend hooked up with a company SSR (6.0 liter, 6-speed manual, Dark Blue) so we were guest riding in a pretty nice but competitive product, in lieu of "Mo", our DTR Marauder. Little did I know I would find some connection back to the Marauder crew up the Avenue Saturday night.

We were advised that last year's party was a riot, and that the crowd has an international flair. "The hosts have Czechoslovakian background, and last year, a whole bunch of Czechs showed up, and there I was, smiling and drinking and not understanding a word, and it was still great!" per our friend. So, we figured the price of entry was some good Czech beer, so I brought some Czechvar, the original Budweiser from the old country.

Anyway, I fell in love with Czech beer while living in Europe (working on another Steve Babcock program for Ford, but that's also another story) and while I'm there working on a beer, chatting with the folks, up walks this guy with his spouse and kid, and he's wearing a Trilogy T-Shirt. A few minutes later, I see another guy I thought I had met once but couldn't remember where, a tall guy about 6 foot 6, with glasses and an accent. Eventually, I couldn't help myself, I showed them where the stash of Czechvar was, and had to find out if they worked at Trilogy...

Figured it out yet?

Yep, it was Ben and Mikhail, the supercharger design guys working for Jerry! They said they had spent a little time hanging around the MVIII crowd, who I'm sorry I missed, but I felt redeemed by sharing a beer with those two. A good time was had by all.

Mikhail, ever the businessman, even started working on my financial adviser (my lovely bride of 19 years) regarding which number Trilogy kit is in our future! "You know you need one!" :help:

It would seem Jerry has a knack for hiring the right people. :beatnik:

If this party was Saturday night, I drove Mikhail and Renata to the party.

If I was not so paranoid about finding my way back to the hotel, I would have stayed for a bit.
Glad you had a good time.
I agree, Jerry B. has excellent taste in hiring people!
