Hello,

I am Scott Alder from Scott Alder Motorsports and have posted several times showing how things can be done to improve the performance and safety of the Panther.

We have taken a 1999 P71 Crown Victoria and installed a 1999 V10 engine/tranmission into the car. The car currently has 37,000 miles on this current configuration. We have broken down the vehicle into the following areas:

~ engine/transmission repower
~ cooling, braking, support systems
~ vehicle dynamics
~ high speed dynamics (up to 150 mph)

Our work has been in Car and Driver and other magazines. Look in the July/2002 issue of Car and Driver and see how we compared against the Marauder.

The idea is to share some of the things that we have run across and how they can be incorporated into Panther platform. Parts can be bolted on to make horsepower, but how do the parts work with the vehicle overall and what about the epa/carb certifications. Making horsepower is easy, but making it legal is another story.

Scott

Interesting Scott.

Did C+D actually compare the two cars side by side, and at the track this time?

Is this the Propane fueled car or another one?

The cars where tested independently, our car was tested at Willow Springs during the month of February and put into the Specialty File (like the Kenny Brown car).

Displayed both LPG cars a the 2002 LA Auto Show. We are trying to show what can be done with these cars. You need torque to move such a heavy car.

The idea is that in California you can drive a AFV in the HOV lanes any time of the day with one person and not have to pay for meter's in LA.

Competition is our standard bench mark, we where the fastest cars at the 2001 Challenge Bibendum event held in California. During the Challenge Bibendum event testing at the Fontana Speedway, we got 25 mpg gasoline gallon equivalent during our 100 mile test. We averaged 80 mph during the test.

Look at this site:

Did the CHP ever put one in trials?

The V10 Crown Victoria has been tested by Police agencies and has been the second fastest car ever, just behind the B4C Camaro. We are faster than the LT1 Police Caprice and the SS Impala.

We are working on the SULEV P70 Crown Victoria for offlical police testing.

V10...I like your approach...but why not the 460...just wondering...seems it would be less expensive...same result...but I still like the cubes...and drive shaft twisting torque...

The current V10 from Ford Motor Company can run on CNG, LNG, LPG, Hydrogen and Gasoline. The power of the 6.8 has barely been reached. The V10 is capable of 650 hp on gasoline with LEV-II emissions (engine only).

The push rods engine are not longer in production at Ford. Good engine, but no longer produced. Made 813 hp on pump gas with 519 stroker for the Hot Rod Shootout in 1995.

Thanks for the info...6.8 (I'm old) is that like 405ci...and again I like your approach...way to go...obtw a set of headers for a 72 stang with 460 would be nice...

The 6.8 in the Crown Victoria in neutral while reving the engine will cause torque twisting similar to the old muscle cars. Something to say about cubic inches.
