Memorable Moments from Marauderville III and the Woodward Dream Cruise
17-21 August 2005

The best part of this entire MV III event was meeting and talking to other Marauder owners over the course of five days and sharing stories and experiences. Marauder was the common bond.

Wednesday, 17 August

• The rally at Cruztaker’s for the inbound convoy from Ohio
• Dinner at Caper’s and a parking lot full of Marauders.
• 100 plus Marauder owners, family and friends in attendance.
• Chasing NGL04 across town on 13 Mile Rd until three-22 ounce drinks kicked in.
• First introduction to Woodward Avenue and the “Light ‘em Up” phraseology
• Getting used to the parking layout and plan
• Admiring the efficiency of the “Michigan Left Turn”

Thursday, 18 August 2005

• Breakfast get together at Trilogy Motorsport offices
• Burnouts down Michigan Avenue
• Falling 30 minutes behind the group at the F-150 Rouge Plant tour
• Greenfields Ale at the café
• The Henry Ford Museum – cars, cars, cars, trucks, trains, and planes.
• Arriving late for the Hampton Inn Social
• Car washing in the hotel rear lot
• Back to Woodward B.K. and the 40+ Marauder Cruise lap
• Marauders blocking Woodward Avenue as the MM convoy reentered the BK parking lot
• Picking up two new Marauder recruits who followed us into the BK lot after they saw the line of MMs headed to Burger King

Friday, 19 August 2005

• Getting photos of the Milan Convoy departing just before daybreak
• Arriving at the track in time to see several Test & Tune runs
• Watching the Trilogy #1 destroy a new set of Nittos before 11 AM
• Trying to get pics of Barry behind the wall of tire smoke
• Enjoying seeing two brackets of racing from the spectator grandstand
• Color commentary provided by “Cruzer” and “JET” over the PA system
• Chasing Joe Walsh back to the hotel
• Exhaust pipe blasts in the I-696 tunnels
• Mike Poore smokin’ a Honda Civic trying to break the mini-convoy
• More car washing and back to Woodward for the night cruise

Saturday, 20 August 2005

• Early arrival at the Woodward BK. Primo Parking for at least 70 MMs.
• Classic cars, old cars, new cars, little cars, big cars, cars, cars, cars
• A front row seat on Woodward under the tent canopy
• Three quick early T-Storms that didn’t dampen anyone’s enthusiasm
• Drying off the Marauders after each cloud burst
• Chatting with Jerry Barnes, Steve Babcock, and Logan McLeod
• A 1/3 scale fire engine …… “Stay Back 166.7 feet”
• A cruising hot tub that added people (i.e. girls) along the way.
• Channel 7 TV news coverage right in front of the Marauder BK spot

Sunday, 21 August 2005

• A Honda Civic parked in the hotel lot between a row of Marauders.
• Same Honda with about 50 MM.Net calling cards plastered all over front, rear, and sides
• Mysterious black lines all over the back parking lot
• Private church services and chaplain at the hotel MV III hospitality suite
• Breakfast Banquet at the Marcus Family Restaurant with about 175 attendees
• The Trilogy Story by Jerry Barnes
• The Marauder Story by Steve Babcock
• Vendor Raffle and being named the winner of the Trunk Lid Liner prize
• Marauders invading the nearest Sunoco after the breakfast banquet and making the station’s 93 Octane quota for the week in about 15 minutes
• The I-75/I-280/I-80 convoy through Michigan, Ohio, and into Pennsylvania
• Having a prime rolling seat for several of Defyant’s “fly-bys”

Hats off to the Motor City Marauders, the sponsors, and the vendors for making this memorable week possible. :2thumbs:

Nice thread Charlie and another opportunity to thank our hosts and sponsors for putting on a SUPER event! They made sure we had positive memories to take home with us.

I got sidelined by local family needing a helping hand but what little time I was able to spend with the my Marauder friends was worth the 12 hour ride (although the return trip was in a Budget Truck).

The museum was cool, the plant tour made me want a new pick up, but the cruise was fantastic! I sat talking with Paul and his great kids right on the 50 yard line as every car you can imagine motored by. How cool was that for a car nut!

I learned Joe really did have a Marauder after all. I heard he showed up at the track and made everyone take notice. Talk about making a grand entrance. Nice job Joe! Not bad for just getting it back together.

I got a tour of a local's garage in St Clair while taking a walk after dinner with family. Met a guy that had 3 Model T's in his garage. 1 mostly restored to original condition and 2 that would get it down the street. He cruised Woodward in a 67 Mercury Cougar this year.

Took the bold step of parking next to Mike and Charlie in the parking lot of the hotel.

Heard the "Paul Harvey" version of Mike Poore's ricer kill. Way to Go Barb!

Thanks for the memories.........

Bluerauder...very well put sir! Heather and I had a pleasure meeting you, and your son. I'm sure it was sad to see us all split off near Cleveland one by one...but cool at the same time.

I like the thumbs up "goodbye" salute. However I won't take the credit for that one...Ken from the Cleveland group was the first to split off and shot the "thumbs up" out the window to all of us. I like it! I hope it sticks.

Thanks for the story...We'll cruise with you anytime!

Wow ... it's been a whole year and the 2006 WDC is happening right now.

Thought I'd bring this back for another look and stimulation for MV IV in Orlando, FL in November. :D

It was our pleasure hosting everyone here last year. As you said, we just rapped up this years WDC and once again rain was a major player. Rain for most of the day did not ruin the great time everyone had this year. Just like last year the rain cleared later in the day to make for another terrific WDC. Too bad you couldn't make it back. It was truely another great four day event. Thank you for bringing back these memories. Maybe next year........

We are working on plans to keep our archives organized and encourage new threads instead of resurrecting old threads. Our apologizes for the premature closure.

Thanks Mary.I would like to see all the Maraudervilles still open to view for the the memories that the people who went to those can still have.
