but I did just buy a 2004 CV LX Sport and can dream, right? From what I can tell so far I'll be the guy who can buy your 'take off' parts and put them on my car, not to try to equal the MM, but just to make mine a tad better handling, faster, and a little different then your average bear.

Great site, lot's of info. Hope you don't mind non-MM owners posting!

Congats on the new buy! There are many CV owners and past CV owners that now own Marauders around this joint. Welcome to the site!

:congrats: and enjoy the site and your car Congrats on the CV Sport. I really do not understand why Ford doesn't use the Marauder package on the CVS. They could put a catchy name on it like "Police Interceptor". I like the CVS and almost bought one before we got the 04 MM. Good luck.

rumble, welcome to the board...we have a few of you non-Marauder-having types already... :D

Seriously, congrats on the CVLX Sport...one bad thing, though, is that you already HAVE most of the compatible goodies we might take off, like sway bars, control arms, exhaust, airbox, zip tube...most of the engine pieces aren't interchangeable, although 3.55s are available fairly often as more and more of us go to 4.10s.

Stick around, go to some meets and get to know people...most of us are pretty bizarre, but a few are OK... ;)

Yea I'm already thinking about the 3.55's with the limited slip, that would be nice! The car only has 5,900 miles on it, and I've only driven it about 20 miles so far, but this weekend I'm driving it 1000 miles to my new job so I'm looking forward to it.

You mentioned that lots of the parts are the same already, but I thought the rear antisway bar was thicker in the MM?

RF, I didn't think the exhaust, airbox, and anti-sway bars were the same. Or is it an '04 thing?

RF Overlord

I believe the exhaust from the cats back is the same (other than the tips) and so are the rear sway bars (the Sport is the same as the old HPP)...but you're right about the airbox; I was thinking of the CVPI that now uses the Marauder airbox and MAF...thanks SHERIFF.

welcome to the site!

fyi, you already have 3.27 gears. you ought to go to 3.73s to feel a difference. but, then again, 3.55s could probable be had purty cheap here.

enjoy the ride!

jakdad

3.27s to 3.55s is not worth the expense or labor. you would do better with 3.73 and up for daily driving. 3.73 would probably be the best.

SHERIFF,
No problem :P

I thought the MM rear anti swaybar was very slightly larger, and mufflers were also different. I know the system on the 2003 CVPI doesn't look the same.

Well, I work in Delray Beach which is one town south of Boynton. So at least you know that there will be a member close by.

Welcome! I Traded a 2003 CV LXS on my 2004 MM. Loved the CVS but needed "just a little more." Found a lot! I am new here but have found more info and advice in a couple of weeks than I have ever found before, anywhere! I don't know anybody yet but feel like I am among friends here. Welcome to Fl. from a MM, MM.Net and Florida newbie also. Be sure to bring all your cold weather clothes like I did :-) Dennis:burnout:

Pretty car, Rumble. I traded one exactly like it (2003) in on my MM (04) I really liked the car but found it a bit floaty at higher speed and definately reluctant to change direction crisply.too. I was about to install upgraded front and rear sways to help with that when I stumbled on the Marauder. You can do a lot with the CVS and more than a few guys here will make suggestions and sell parts. Welcome aboard and have fun here and in your new wheels. Dennis:beer:
PS you have a lot of company down there. ROYLPITA is probably closest and and a good guy. Give him a PM or for that matter any of the rest of the gang will help out.

I too wanted a Marauder, but not a black one. I have had 1 black car and that was enough. I was trying to find a Silver one, but finally gave up and got an '04 LX Vic instead. I have made a few mods to it, like Sport wheels, Marauder steering wheel, 3.55 Trac Lock w/aluminum D/S. SCT Xcal2 tuner, covered up the fake woodgrain with carbon fiber. AM/FM/6 disc in-dash Ford changer. I still want a Silver Birch Marauder, maybe one of these days.

After looking at a black Crown Victoria LX side by side with my black MM I came to the conclusion there isn't really much difference between the two cars, including price  . Two owners on this thread mentioned seemingly small differences. I don't worship :bows: the "MM image" to the degree some of us do as I try to be (maybe) a little more realistic :alone: in realizing a MM :burnout: is just a fancy cop car (literally in Florida) :director: or a hopped-up taxi cab :rasta: , or a hopped-up dechromed Gran Marquis :pimp: . A 4.6 SOHC LX Sport @ 240 hp with a supercharger and tuned to the MM's 305 hp should equal or exceed the performance of the MM. Certainly the differences would be further reduced with chassis upgrades (shocks, sway bars, tires, etc.) to the CV. The 65 Mustang was really 'just' a reskinned Falcon, the Mustang II was just a reskinned Pinto, and our MM is 'just' a family man's Town Car! Ford's of the 1950's (and before and since) have always been a lot of car for the money! The Mercury's were originally an upgraded Ford and the differences have nearly evaporated today-as evidenced by the oh-so-close base retail prices of CV's and Gran Marqs. When adjusted for inflation, todays prices are nearly the same as the 1950's and equiptment is immensely better (radios, radials, ride, rust protection, etc.). I would also contend the Panther platform is 'just' a refinement of the 1965 to 1968 LTD/Galaxie chassis which got bloated from 1970 to 1978 and then 'down-sized' in 1979 to the Panther.

Roy, I was at Maroone last Wed, just getting oil and rotation done (9kmiles now). They were very friendly (some blone woman service writer, can't think of her name) and I will absolutly be back. What do you do at the dealer?

I'm driving up to Tallahassee tomorrow and won't be back until Friday of this week, this car is going to see a #$load of miles covering this state.

I did by a house in Boynton today!, on the Delray line, on the lake ida canal system. Looking forward to getting my wife and the rest of my life down here soon!

Ya and the Chevy Chevelle was a glorified Malibu. My point? who the hell

cares, A Chevelle is badass in all the ways a Malibu is not. Same goes

for the Caprice/Impala SS , and yes the CV/Marauder. Plus a S/C Marauder

will run circles around a S/C CV and without the body-roll ;)
