Hi guys,

What different or modded transmission dip-stick is everyone using after the Trilogy install? The stock one is too hard to get to.

Thanks

The stock one works, it is just a b!tch to reach. There is a trick to it. I had to watch someone else do it before I could figure it out. guess im a dummy.

Insert your dip stick into the dip stick tube below the EGR tube:

Push your dipstick down into the tube until the yellow handle will clear the cowl ledge:

Rotate your dipstick in the tube around the EGR tube:

Then just push you dipstick alittle further and your in :D :

Your right though, at first it was a PITA:rolleyes:Since the proper way to check transmission fluid is when the car is hot, is also a great way to burn your hand....you can use it as an excuse not to go to work the next day... :fire:

Anytime you check anything on a hot engine, you must be cautions. I never burned myself.

I simply turn my hand palm up and hook it w/ my middle finger.

I admire your manual dexterity, I did burn myself....I guess I'm just very clumsy.

Look, this is ridiculous.

Can someone lock this thread. The question was answered and the problem solved.
That was awesome Defyant. Thank you. I just tried it and it worked great! :D
I thought I was going to have to get my fabrication skills on and get busy. lol. Good deal. Thanks again, you rock.

Why don't we come up with a nice extended dipstick handle mod for the poor Trilogy folks? I wouldn't want anyone burning their fingers....

It could be as simple as welding on six inches of tubing to extend the loop above the EGR...

It just has to be put in as described. This lil trick should be a sticky, I know there were other who had a similar problem.

Charlie, I looked very carefully at your pictures trying to determine why you are able to push the stick back in with one hand without burning yourself.

The routing of your hoses is different than mine, the distance from the EGR tube to cowling is greater in your car than mine, my engine seems to sit closer to firewall than yours.

I don't have a problem removing the dipstick at all, reseating correctly to take accurate reading on a hot car while engine is running will require the use of 2 hands, the only choice I have is deciding which hand to burn.:)
