I got this a couple of weeks ago from Rich at CM, and am hoping to install it this weekend. He gave me a lot of useful info, but I forgot to ask: do I glue the entire surface of the UHI and set the fabric on that, or do I just glue the edges that wrap around the back?
And when you do wrap it around the back, how do you handle the uneven edges on the UHI itself?
Thanks for any info. This looks like one of those easy uncomplicated installs that can get complicated if I don't do it right.
Tnx.

First lay out the insulator on your work table and position the UHI cover on it to determine what position you want the embroidery to be in. Leave the edges alone, get everything straight. Then pull back the top and fold it over so the insulator is exposed. Spray the glue all over the surface of the insulator and let it sit a little bit to get tacky. Not sure if you spray it on the cover also, Rich should have stated this in the instructions. Then slowly roll the cover back onto the insulator and make sure there are no creases or other problems. Fold the unglued part back now and repeat. Mine was done in three steps. Flip the whole thing over now and trim the cover with about 3-4" extra around the edges. Test fit by folding the edges over and cutting out notches where necessary to compensate for bunching up or stretching. Now spray glue around the edges of the insulator and fold the cover over the edges. The holes for mounting should be burned into the cover with a soldering iron. The holes for underhood light (if applicable) should be cut so the material folds back to be glued to the back side of the insulator, kind of an X cut.

Norm,
Fordnut did good. The instructions do say to spray both the liner and the insulator though. Make sure you do the work in a well ventilated area or you will be found hours later wandering the neighborhood with a mad cat glued to your back. :D
The instructions say to trim before you glue, but I trimmed very generously and then came back and trimmed again 3" away from the edges once I glued down the entire top side.
To get it to form around the liner, make V-cuts into the inside radius and notches around outside radius curves. Don't cut all the way to the liner, leave about 1/2 or so, it'll streach. Test the wrap on the cuts and when you're happy., hit both the fabric and the liner with glue and let it tack up for a minute or so. Work the bottom / back of the liner first and you'll get the gist.
If you didn't get the instructions, send me your email addy in a PM and I'll send them scanned in. Good luck.
