The 2005 IMOA Annual Meet will be held Sept. 23 and 24 in Hickory Corners, Mich., and one of the highlights will be a tour of the Gilmore Auto Museum.

A Side Trip in Kalamazoo Planned At the September show. This year there will be a side trip for anyone interested, not just wives, on Saturday. We will tour St Julian's Winery in Paw Paw and have lunch at Dyckman's Restaurant down the street. The group will meet at the hotel lobby promptly at noon for the 25 minute drive to Paw Paw.

I hope we get a good turn out! C'mon Detroit folks, this one is real close to home so there is no excuse not to go. You can even drive there and back on the same day, so overnight accomodations aren't mandatory.

Jerry Robins has put together another late model Marauder class this year too. 2003/2004 Marauders will have awards.

Okay, so who is going?

I got the message from Eliot about bigslim's call on this topic.

Unfortunately, Eliot and I will not be able to attend this.

It's for a good cause, though -- we will be working on getting the 5.0L motor back into Eliot's 1963 Mercury Meteor! :D

I am so bummed...I'll be out of town that weekend.

I was born and raised in the lovely village of Paw Paw, my dad and a whole bunch of other relatives still live there. It was only about 20 years ago when Dykman's was a real dive, but these days it's pretty nice.

One note of warning: Paw Paw is the county seat for Van Buren county. As such, this tiny town has, in addition to the county courthouse and jail, a local police department, a state police post and the sherriff's department. Probably the most cops per capita in the state! Be careful with the burnouts!

I've been to the Gilmore Museum, you guys are going to have a great time.

Thanks for the call and invite Bigslim, but I dont think the wife and I will be able to make it. Sounds like a good time though. If we do it will be a last minute decision. I would need to get the rear cover on the MM painted B4 the event, some ass backed into us. Any thoughts on how kid friendly it might be?

I would call it kid friendly, but it really depends on your kids. My kids have been there many times. Check their web site http://www.gilmorecarmuseum.org

I was at the Gilmore Museum today for a muscle car show. There have been some recent changes and additions to the museum. For any of you that have not been there before, I think you will be very impressed. It is a great car museum.

My 13 year old daughter spent half the afternoon cruising the grounds in their 1950 London Transporter double decker bus.

I won 1st in class (1960-1963 muscle car) which is not hard to do when there are only 2 of you in the class and the second guy doesn't show until the gudging is half over.

I also got a free dyno run with my '63. I pulled 243 bhp at 100 mph and about 4,300 rpm. The 406 was rated at 405 bhp (gross) at 5,800 rpm.

All in all, a great day. See you guys there in 2 weeks.

I am going, just not sure if I can make it down Friday night. I spoke with Jerry Robbin and he informed me that they are leaving the host hotel about 8-8:30 am on Saturday and the show will begin around 9 am and run till 4 am... then dinner later on.

Kirk, is there a carwash anywhere nearby the show location where we can touch up the rides if we slip in Saturday morning?

There is a park, a small shopping center, and car wash just a few blocks from my house. I thought we could meet there Saturday morning and then caravan to the show. It is about a 30 minute drive from there to the show and a pretty direct route. I'm not sure about anything closer. We would go up M-89 to M-43. The museum is on M-43 north of Richland. Let me know if this sounds good and I will post directions.

I assume you want a nice sit down breakfast? I'm working on it. There is a Felpaush grocery with a bakery right next to the car wash and fast food places all around the area, but the only good restrant right there is a loung that doesn't do breakfast. I am looking into a place in Richland that we will drive right by. Haven't been there myself, but had a good recommdndation today. There are also places in Battle Creek that will be a little out of the way, but not much. The only town between BC and the show is Richland.

It is 1 1/2 to 2 hours here and another 30 minutes to Hickory Corners. Add car wash and breakfast. What time do you want to be at the show? Doesn't matter to me but it could be an early morning for you. Just want to know when to plan on.

How many people are coming over Saturday morning?

Kirk has graciously decided to lay out the plans for the other Motor City Marauders going to the IMOA. It is right in his back yard and is happy to play host to us for a change! He will post later on, we decided to meet Saturday morning, grab a quick bite to eat, and detail the cars, all on the way to the car show location. Thanks Kirk!

This was a great event. Great cars both from the members of the IMOA and the Gilmore museum is spectacular. I'd like to thank Kirk and his girls for helping out in getting everything organized and getting us out to the museum. I'm going to have to get out there more often.

I agree Mike that it was alot of fun.I think there were around 15-20 late model Marauders from five different states (Mich.,Ohio.Ill.,PA.,Fla.)that I counted. Some were judged some not.But on a grand fall Michigan day in a wonderfull setting like the Gilmore Car Museum it don`t` get better than that.
