I'm thinking of new plates for my 1967 Ford Galaxie XL Convertible that has a 428. Since this is primarily a Ford board, I will probably get a better response here than if I posted this on one of my F-body boards. ;)

Right now I have XL 428, but was thinking of going with one of the following:

7Litre
7Liter
7 Litre (with a space)
67 7Litr

I'm leaning towards the last one, but would welcome any input from you Marauder guys, be it about these plates or maybe others you can think of. Just keep in mind that I only have 7 total numbers/letters to work with... :D

I'd stick with the 428 theme. That whole liter/litre thing is just a little European for my tastes nowadays with the French and all that. I've taken to calling the MM motor a 281.

Paul:

It's not just the French that use litres...most of the rest of the world is now metric, except us...

Wease:

I do agree with Paul, though...keep the XL 428...engines back then were not metricised...my Marauder may be a 4.6L, but my Buick will always be a 350!

Actually Ford used 7 Litre badges and the 7 Litre designation on the 1966 full size special edition 428 Galaxies.
I know cause I fell in love with a red hardtop and tried to talk my father into buying it,unsucessfully,to my dismay.

That is true, but unbeknownst to some, the 7 Liter was an option package on the 1967 XL's as well, where in 1966 the 7 Liter Galaxie was different trim level all together... :)

yeah, stick with 428. I call my engine a 281, unless the riceboys look at me confused, then i tell them that's 4.6L.

Off topic a little, but I got my custom plates today.

They say "MO RAUDR."

I turned my initials into the name of the car and made a plate out of it.

Few people remember what the XL stood for but everyone knows what 7 litre means. Also 428 is well understood. How about FORD 428 or BAD 428? Oh yeah XL was Xtra Lively or something like that. The french won't get it anyway.

1967 [half-space] 428 may fit. Then the car IDs itself. Female ?
GAL 428 & resembles the way black license plates came then
GUY 428 - whoops ! not so sure here.
