View Full Version : Anyone tried a twin 65mm throttle body vrs. stock twin 55mm?

I was just curious if anyone ever managed to get a aftermarket 4v modular throttle body to work on a Marauder. Like the twin 65 unit BBK makes. http://www.ADTR.net sells them under intake mods. I know there may be some layout issues being that our cars have the intake on the drivers side vrs. the passangers side on the Mustang. Can you just mount the throttle body on it's side to correct for this or would you have to do some fancy throttle linkage work to correct for this? Thanks in advance.

I think Martyo has one on LK.

I believe that it is a 'bolt-on', you just have to flip it upside down to make it work on a Marauder. You will also have to port match your intake for the larger bore throttle body. (If memory serves the stock Marauder intake bores are @ 61mm in diameter)
I was considering this 'mod' until I talked to the guy who dyno-tuned my Marauder (and a lot of other high HP Marauders & Mustangs)...he said that unless you are S/C the stock dual 57mm throttle body flows more than enough air.

The stocker is a twin 57. The bores in the intake manifold are closer to 60. I am using a BBK twin 62 and it works fine, but I did have my manifold ported to match it. BTW, it worked fine without the porting and made the same power. I'm not sure if anybody has gone with the twin 65. Marty is using the Accufab single blade with a highly modified intake manifold.

I have the 65mm BBK twin bore. The only real complaint was when I first installed it it was real stiff when I put the car in gear and started it was jerky now with close to 15,000 miles its almost like the stock 57mm unit. But the reason I use aftermarket TB's are for the instant response. Any HP gain is really questionable. Just like the stab it and :burnout: :burnout: :burnout:

And the Cobra 99/03 BBK throttle bodys bolt right up. But you might have to reuse our gasket for it.

Well I think Black Hole, along with the throttle body, you should get a K&N high performance air intake kit to go along with it and then there should be a noticeable gain. Still, I see that adding a bigger throttle body doesn't do much on N/A engines which doesn't help me since I want a fast N/A car. Well it's nice to see Sean Hyland's site is back online again and working. I wonder if his header kit will bolt on to the stock pipes. His two piece driveshaft also seems very worth while.

Well I have been experimenting with my Ramair set up. Seems to help out a lot except now I have a very rich condition. Which I hope to correct when I add my Bassani exhaust system and resonatorless tips. And get my chip reburned for it.
