A friend of mine has an El Camino with a 4 barrel, mild cam and 350 ci engine. He also has a custome exhaust and (I think) headers.

What chance do you guys think I have against him in a head to head? He is sounding pretty confident since he recently "blew away" a cop car with the "interceptor engine."

You Definitely got him! The ElCo suffers from terminal traction problems so unless he spent lots in the back end of that thing, have at him.

even if he pulls you on the low end you should have him on the top side. You know, it's about the 1-2 shift.

Take the Race! Even a 350 with Mild Mods to it Wouldn't Help him against the Mighty Marauder. He Raced a SOHC Crown Vic which in No shape or Form would Hang With a Marauder

Eat Him Up!

You got a buddy with an El Camino? Tell him that the El Camino is the Mullet haircut of cars.

El Bondo is more like it. Those things left the factory with rust holes.

May not be a slam dunk.

Alot will depend on, what he has done to it.
I've seen some very stealthy El cammies in my travels.
Happy racing!

hey, i resemble that comment! :DSorry!! But Stock For Stock, the Marauder may Just Edge a Crown Vic out by a LITTLE bit!

(Just To be Fair to other Members who own Crown Vic's!)

We're talking about El Camino vs Marauder, not CV vs MM. :)

I'm rarely worried about CV's. :P

There is one thing that I noticed while racing a cop on a nearby private track. Our cars launch very, very well. I think that it takes more skill to correctly launch an El Camino than an MM. When I raced the cop he was driving a 5.7 Camaro. When the officer who was starting the race gave us the go sign he lost traction immediately and just sat there and spun them while I just took off. Before he got a handle on it I was a good 4-5 cars out. He did catch up mid run but that was when the MM was getting into its highway cruiser mode and I edged him out at the end of the quarter.

If Mr. El Camino does not launch well he might just blow any edge his cammed 350 gives him. Still, that is a big if. :)

Best,

Dan
