Whats up guys

Im in the process of getting another mod for my marauder i already have chip, 4:10's, underdrive pullies, k&n kit, flowmaster 40 mufflers.

Which mod will i be more happy with the torque converter or the DR exhaust system?

How much you guys paid $$ to get you torque converter or exhaust system installed?

Ive been doing research on both but i still cant make up my mind.
All replies greatly appricated

OK, here's my 2 cents:

The exhaust will help with top end and some mid range hp, but the stock exhaust isn't all that bad until you start looking at supercharging.

The torque converter, however, is all bottom, which is where the Marauder needs the most help. It's a seat of the pants improvement that rivals all other mods short of an s/c. A torque converter is the great equalizer for us centrifugal guys. ;)

A Stallion torque converter retails around $735, but can be purchased for less depending on who you get it from. The very highest you should spend on install is about $600 from a dealer or around $300 from an independent shop. Your price will vary on who you know.

DO both. eventually. DR has (or had) the 3000 stall PI TC for 695. part number 469016. see if someone near you can hook you up. I would say definitely do the rear head cooling kit (DR, again bout $160)) while the tranny is down. if you can find a mechanic to lift the car and you help him however you can, $300 might be doable (if not less). dropping a tranny is quite easy. installing the TC, the rear cooling kit, then get the chip flashed. you're on your way.....good luck.

Yup, forgot that one. Good catch with the head cooling mod.

Short and simple, TORQUE CONVERTER. I know a company that makes the same specs as a Stallion PI but for significantly less. TC= tire melters

I was thinking TQ but thought it increasing trans. heat.?

Does the TQ help with brake torques or just 1/4 mile time?

Probably most of the heat issues are due to the tune, or more specifically, the torque converter lockup schedule. Leave it unlocked 100% of the time under highway speeds and I think you may see some issues. Mine is unlocked during acceleration to 38 mph in 3rd gear at low load and then locks and stays locked until I break or coast down to the 3-2 shift. This is a big time drivability issue too. I've had a tune that kept the t/c unlocked below highway speeds and it wasn't good for drivability or gas milage. WOT lockup is a whole other topic that we are still experimenting with.

When I put the PI in last year, still n/a, it dropped my 0-60 mph time by an easy 1/2 second by my g-timer with no break torquing and OEM tires. The trick was to feather into the gas just right as not to start smoking the tires right off the start. This wasn't much of a consideration before the t/c with just gears, tune and exhaust.

The effect on break torquing at the track I'm not 100% sure of yet, but at Milan during MVIII my best 1/4 mile time was acheived when I break torquing to around 2 grand and then hammered it on the 3rd yellow. Warm drag radials at 24 psi has a lot to do with letting me get away with this kind of foolishness and I think there's still a tenth or so left in my 60' time. Just need some more experience with break torquing and tire pressures.

the tranny cooler will help for sure. there are plenty out there that can be added to your current set up.

TC made a huge difference for me and I did not do any additional trans cooling mods
