Hello all! Does anyone know of a good performance shop to do the 3.55 to 4.10 gear swap in San Diego? I recently did a self-install of trilogy's kit #101:D All I can say is WOW! What a difference it made! I think some 4.10's are in her future though...so I'm looking for a shop in my area. Thanks!

I used Hoopers in San G Valley. 3 Hour drive north. They charged $250.

How are you dealing with smog issues on your car with SC?

I want to do the SC but have not found a way to do it in California.

Well, I got around it for a bit because I have Massachusetts plates. I know that it will be a problem since the Trilogy kit, although apparently very "clean running", isn't CARB approved. How did you like that shop that you went to for your gears?

Hoopers is the best gear shop in LA. Been around for 50 years - used to race cars.

OK...so this local shop wants $1500.00 to do the 4.10 gears!? Is it just me or does this seem crazy?

It's no you. That's absurd IMO.

Remember that line from Monty Python and the Holy Grail?

"Run away! Keep running away!"

$1500 is absurd...that's about 4 times what it should cost...(for labour)

JBA cost around $600

I had my 410 gears installed at a local LM dealer
The repair facility manager is a State trooper, and a car enthusiast.

He said the Techs were waiting in line to see who was going to get the job!

All in all,
I supplied the ford racing 4:10 gears
and they charged me 300 for the install
I think that even included gear lube

Thats my 2 cents
