I called the dealer today to find out what they would charge for some routine fluid maintenance on my MM.

I asked them for :

1.) An oil / filter change

2.) Radiator / coolant system flush / refill

3.) Transmission fluid flush / refill

4.) Rear end differential oil change

The service manager called me back after doing a little research, and quoted me $600 out the door.

Do you guys think thats a decent price for all this to be done in one shot?

Just curious.

Thanks.

Does the service mgr. wear a mask?
you're being robbed.

$200-250 would be in the ballbark.

IMO,
Rod

Thanks for the input. I might try the same question to another L/M dealer in the area tomorrow and see what I come up with.

Too high IMO, this is what it would roughly cost I believe.

I just had most of that service performed!

trans flush at dealer $134 tax incl.
rear service at Boots performance including installation of a TA Girdle
fluids-65
labor -45 110 all together

Oil changes are iffy, if you say a word about synthetic oil it goes fropm 21 to 40 bucks real quick I have learned at the local dealer, so I enjoy doing it myself with ford 5w20 oil purchased at Walmart, filter is usually there too!

as for the radiator flush, I only have 30K on the clock and I can wait till a higher mileage.
Hope that helps

I'd go for it if the rear end fluid change had a gear swap and stud/girdle cover kit thrown in for free.

Fluid flush abd fill for the transmission is $140 at the dealer I go to. I don't know what the oil changes are since I change the oil myself. I'd say that anything over $400 for all the things you've listed is too high. call another dealer.

Funny you bring this up as I just got a similiar quote for work from my dealer I will probably use.

Oil Change: $26.99 (not sure if it is the synthetic or not)
Trans Service: $129.99
Diff Service: $89.95

Total: $246.89 + tax

Anything over $400 with all waste fees & taxes would be a rip off. Go some where else.

Thanks guys...I'm happy to know that you all share similar prices. I can't believe I got a quote like that myself. Looks like I'll take it elsewhere. I don't really want to because Ive taken the car there for every oil change, and they've been fine with service thus far. But I certianly don't want to spend $600 bucks for that. $350 - $400 sounds fine for me.

Mat,
Most dealers don't want to loose your business either.
Call the service manager tell him you are a good customer, but you don't feel like taking it in the shorts.
The most you should pay for those items is 250-300.You got better thing to spend you hard earned money on, I've met her:D
If you agree to pay the higher ammount, Ask for a daily loaner car too.
Cause you are The Man!:coolman:

Wow!! Now thats more like it. Maybe you could send me that brochure, so I could walk it in there and say...listen pal...check this out!! I'll make sure I call them back, tell them about my new found data, and see what they do for me at that point.
