If the head is stripped most likely would need a hammer & chisle to get it out. If the threads are stripped I'd drill out the mounting nut, get a grade 8 bolt, nut and 2 big washers and bolt it down.

Its the head, could you elaborate on the method of extraction with the hammer and chisel?

A pipe wrench and a cheater bar should get it loose.

Did you strip the nut or is the stud spinning? I busted the stud loose b4 I realized that a little spray on grease goes a long long way when trying to remove the nuts. I ended up tacking the stud below the nut with my neighbors welder, greased the crap out of the nut and stud and now it comes off pretty easy. I've changed the rear speakers 5-6 times tinkering around with the sound system ........believe me I know what a pain those nuts are without grease(no pun intended).

If the bolt head is rounded, go to Sears and get bolt-out.
