Mayra and I wish to say thanks to all our friends that were there and we wish you all a safe trip home.:)First of all I want to thank every one for coming! We had members come in from as far away as Canada, Indiana, Illinois, Cape Cod, Maine, Pennsylvania, and Oregon. I also would like to thank Smokie and the members of the Sunshine Marauder group, and Justin from Velocity Mustangs who made the long journey from South Florida! Justin helped organize the event for his club.

I never felt we would have the turn out that we did, especially because of all that has been going in the wake of Katrina.

It has put several of our members in dire straights, Billy and his family, as well as Donald Robbins and his family, I also never counted on 96 degree weather two days in a row in September here in Jacksonville Florida. Normally it would be at least 15 degrees cooler at this time of year!
We had a perfect dyno day and Open House, with a great lunch thanks to Mary and Joel's cooking and all the hard work from Debbie, Terry, Artur, Steve and Sheila. We had great entertainment by the Andy Haney band, and we raffled off lots of goodies. We even had two members buy Vortech Air to Air kits while they were here. We dyno and tuned over 15 cars on Friday. Some of the dyno highlights came from Smokie's Trilogy car which made over 400 RWHP with a stock pulley and a PHP cold air kit and spacer, and it had a very good AF ratio..

After tuning Zack's car, he had the highest RWHP car of the day. His car has a stock block, stock heads with up graded valve springs, stock cams and our upgraded fuel system. The car had a perfect 11.5 AF. His car has Manly rods and CP pistons, the same compression as a stock Marauder. Zack's car made over 500 RWHP. He was making just a little over 14 PSI. We had many N/A cars with simple bolt on's making 260 plus at the tires. We quit around 6:30 PM.

We then met at Whiteys fish camp at about 7:30 PM. The food was awesome but the friendship and camaraderie was priceless and I will remember it all my life. Again it was a bit warm but great conversation and lots of cold drinks made up for it.

Saturday morning we all met up at the shop at 8 AM and headed for Gainesville. By 9:30 we all had pretty much been checked at tech and some of us got some gas and we headed to the track.

Sheila's sister Lisa, here from Maine, had never ran at the track in her life, so between her and Bunny they kept my car going. Lisa ran 14.041 at 96.59 MPH with a RT of .291, Mary had a real low 14 as well. Then Lisa took my 02 GT down the track and ran a 12.6 at a 114.35 MPH with a RT of .012.

By 1:30 we had 30 cars at the event 15 Marauders, 4 of which were Trilogy powered, 3 Vortech cars and the rest were N/A, along with 1 N20 car and 9 V6 Mustangs, who came with Justin of Velocity Mustang of Longwood Florida.. Just before lunch Billy AKA Sailsmen and Claude AKA Car fixer lined up at the firing line for the duel. Claude has an immaculate toreador Red Trilogy powered Rocket. Billy's car has over fifty-thousand miles on it and over a 130 passes at the track. He recently added our Vortech water to air SC kit. His car makes 440 RWHP. The track temperature was recorded with an infra red heat gun at over 124 degrees. This is a self testament to how eficaint the Vortech water to air works in hot humid climate.

Here is Billy's quote.
I line up next to a beautiful red MM. This is the first MM I have ever lined up against. I get in the zone.

My r/t is .091 to his .144, ahead by .053, yahoo! Then I open up, my 60' is 1.867 to his 2.151, ahead by .284. I feel the S/C winding up, my 330' is 5.385 to his 5.681, ahead by .296. I know he is got to be there but I don't know where. Then the 1/8 is 8.285 to his 8.590 ahead by .305.I know that red beauty is charging on me, my 1,000' is 10.832 to his 11.130, he closed to .298! Fortunately the ¼ comes up and my ET is 12.985 @104.72 to his 13.290 @104.31.

Wow, I crossed first by .3580!

So this was a real good run for Billy and Boy, does he deserves it for all that he and his family have been through with Katrina! I also wanted to say he had a full trunk as well as ¾ tank full of gas. With cooler temperatures Billy's car is a sure low 12 second Marauder. Zack had the fastest car at the event, running consistant 11.6 ET's at over a 116 MPH in 96 degree weather at 85 % humidity. I will let him post his time slips.

The food on Saturday, by Country Caterers, was a big hit, thanks to Debbie's husband, Mike and friends. Again we all had a great time, and we will plan to do this again next year, but we will move to October. where the weather will be a lot cooler.

You said it all. What a great time.

Smokie, I enjoyed meeting you and your lovely wife, the pleasure was all mine. Also hello to all my new MM.NET friends: Bob and his lovely wife, Dan (ATL 06), BigDog, Zack (thanks for the grille), Sarge, Jason, Greg (rockin' those 1/4's) and his family, Billy (thanks for the R/T) and everyone else whose names I forget, but had the pleasure to meet this past weekend, hello and thanks all.

I can truthfully say the only thing cooler than the rides at 3-A were the people.

Also to DR and his posse, thanks for the event, it was great to see y'all again.

A splendid time was had by all... :D

I want to add my thanks to Dennis & Sheila, (and to Gizmo, Molly, Tigger, and Numb-nuts) for their warm hospitality and for the great food at their home last Monday night.

Although the CAR brought us all together, it was the PEOPLE who made this a great event...

Although the CAR brought us all together, it was the PEOPLE who made this a great event. Indeed.

I had a great time. I made some new friends, and caught up on times with old friends. Start to finish, one great week. It could have been a bit cooler, but a week without rain in FL. is not something I am used to, so, we were blessed with decent weather afterall.

Thank you, Dennis, for all your hard work in putting this together. MVIII-A rocked!

If anyone caught my two passes at Gainsville on camera, I would appreciate any pics of my MM in the traps. Send them to SergntMac@aol.com Thank you in advance.

See y'all again soon!

I really had a good time this weekend meeting
a group of Maruder enthusiasts.
Dennis and his troop did a fantastic job

I was even given a ride in Smokies car, now I know what I am missing!

The day at the track was an education for me, having never been on a track before.
I ran a modest 14.56
I even took each of my family members down the track, one at a time.

but the best part was the people,

Gregg

GreggGreg we had a blast, your 14.56 is better than just modest, remember we were running in an inferno:fire: when it cools a bit you will see low 14's. Give Janice my best. Javier.

Actually I believe that there was only one from oregon...me, though I did have someone else in the car (one of the original Ford designers of the 4W70R [the automatic tranny]).

We were sorting out shift points :-)

For clarity's sake my Marauder and I did attend and have a good time at the event, but it (the event) wasn't the reason that I was in Florida.

P.S. I thought my lightly modified Maruader N/A did quite well for 132 degree track temp, 111 degree air temp, and doing 10 hot laps (<4 mins between runs) in a row.

(15.08 best with two people--run seven, 14.720 best with all of the last three runs in under 14.9. Five runs with under .058 R/T--best of .021)

Even with the sticky track the best run required walking the car out of the gate--stock tires at 40psi leave something to be desired unless you're a 'smoker' :-)
