View Full Version : Thinking about stripes...

I've been toying with the idea of stipes for my 03 Silver Birch, but don't want anything "flashy" like I see on most things today. I like the old style stripes on the generation one camaros and such, but found this Eliminator Stripe for a 1969 Cougar today online. What do you guys/gals think. I'd probably start the stripe just behind the front wheel well and run it along the top of the rib with the worded part ending up just behind the read wheel well.

Gotta admit his look great, but it's a little more showy than my style. I did look at some checked patterns for the rocker panels though.

I'm looking into doing what NavChap did for the rocker panels. My Marauder is black and I'm going to use the same black reflective 3M tape that I used for my rear bumper letters. Under normal light it looks like a dark dark charcoal color, put light on it and let the fun begin, right Curt?:D

Probably the Most Effective and Best Looking Idea for Stripes, Otherwise Im not a Fan of Stripes on a Sedan no Matter how bad Ass it is

A thin or fat red Pin stripe down the sides looks great , I had them for a while, took them off and now I miss them.

Not for flash, not for fun, not for ever, but because we owe so much to the early Shelby Mustangs and the Shelby Cobras.

Waited for almost a year for this blue MM to be built. If blue had not been available, this car would have received a "Hertz Shelby Mustang" stripe kit.

Then it took another year to convince anybody that it was a good idea to stripe a Panther body. Wanted to give it the appearance of a smaller car.

They are Stock Replica GT 350 rocker panel stripes and Stock Replica Viper Body Stripes. Eventually they will give way to something else.
No regrets about doing it, especially when you see a full size shot of my avatar, NBC's photos, or Mercutio's shots in Super Rod. Want to do a whole new graphics kit next year while overseas. Lots of time to work it out.

A few of you have heard about it, but would rather show you than tell you. Especially after the reaction to this stripe kit when it was first completed.

Hope to find a vendor who will make the kit. The concept is really simple and has been used on other cars, and it might take a little work to adapt it, like this kit.

The stripes on Navchap's MM really makes the front end look like its lowered way down when seeing it in rear view mirror. They really do make the car look smaller. It looks like its going triple digits on the highway... um, wait, it usually is, lol.

I've been digging the Terlingua Mustang stripe for awhile now:

Too bad the Trilogy front facia isn't going to get put into production, it would fit this treatment well.

Hwy Cruiser, the Terlingua treatment is really nice and it is a tribute to a great chapter in Mustang history. Maybe Jerry Barnes will indulge us, even if all he does is put temporary stripes on his SEMA car and takes a few photos. Would love to see it.

MartyO's Legal Knievel would look great with the GT350H copper/gold stripes, but he probably has other plans. Any updates?

Well NavChap, I decided to go with GT stipes on the rocker panels like yours, but in black. I found a local vendor who does custom work and both sides installed will only cost me $75. I going to make one change though, and have him put S-55 in the spot where a Mustang would have had the GT 350. I figure that's a suitable tribute to the generation 1 Marauders in 1967. I'll post some picks this Friday after I get it done. Thanks for the suggestions.

Make sure to post lots of pics.

I personally was wondering what dark grey/silver would look like on a black Marauder.

My silver birch 04 MM has a black plastic rocker panel moulding. I've wanted to paint it body color since day one. I think this would make the car look lower. Anybody done this yet?

Could someone with better photo shop skills please post a pic so I can see what it would look like?

You folks with the Black MM's probably don't notice it. It just doesn't look right to me.

Yup, I like the strips but I wanted to use the black reflective tape for a subdued look because it doesn't always stand out, until night that is then it's a kindof gold/bronzy color with a hint of red like the GT Torinos had.
I used the small reflective black tape to fill in the "chrome goove" on the rubber molding all the way around the car. Normally only visible at night, here is a shot taken on he Great Salt Plain that shows the relection in the strong daylight.
