Can't prove who did it, but I think it was the jerk who parked next to me at about a 15 degree angle in a green Honda Accord. Left a nice 12" scratch along the front passenger side door, including the handle indention, the top of the mirror, the front edge of the door and about 9" of front fender. Looks only to have penetrated the clear coat, and about 2 hours with Meguiar's Scratch-X has done a lot - but still... it hurts, and I can still see it.

I wish I could run plates - I have all of the info, but don't know anybody. I want to confront the person with the Honda as they work in my building. Also want to let building management know about having a vandal working there. (It's not that big of a building either.) If anybody here can run a TX plate, let me know.

Didn't call the law - because with no witness - no case. Guess I'll call the insurance company tomorrow and see what a repaint will end up costing me. :alone::alone::alone:

Still probably, the police should be informed .

If it is, who you suspect, Better likelyhood they get caught.
Good luck on the fix!
Remember, the culprit is the one who has a bigger problem.
Us dailey drivers, have more fun and more heartach(s)

Been there, had the whole car keyed. Side mirors broken off too. Had to have the whole car repainted. I can feel your pain. Want to borrow a firearm?
Rod.

check with HR or security see if they have video coverage of the area you parked in. DOn't wait too long most places only keep 'tape' 30 days.

I'd check there first, then inform them your goign to stop by the local PD to file a report. You'd be amazed at how cooperative most companies become when their name might wind up on the local blotter.

Why do you think it was the Honda guy? Does he have a grievance with you.. or you with him?

Why do you think it was the Honda guy? Does he have a grievance with you.. or you with him? The main reason I looked is that the honda was parked at an odd angle, and I thought "Oh geez, there is no way this person got out of their car without giving me a ding..." They gave me more than that. I have no way to PROVE that it was them. I came back from lunch very late, and there were plenty of spaces in the parking lot. This person chose to park next to me - far out in the lot - and their car has a fair amount of damage as it is. Broken lights etc...

Too bad there are no cameras in the parking lot.

Ever heard of Hercules Clobber? (http://www.herchem.com/products/drainwaste.html)

I use it for unclogging really tough drains. It is a suphuric acid based product that many professional plumbers use particularly for that purpose because it is one of the most caustic products on the market.

You will need to go to a specialty supply store and they might sell it to you. If you are friends with any plumbers they can get it for you without any problem.

Oh, wait! This thread is about a guy who keyed your car, not plumbing. I am so sorry to take this off topic.

Don't confront the guy, or call the cops; that just puts you on the "suspects" list. Just quietly find out who he is, and follow Mike's rule #3 of retribution. ......"when you least expect it ....expect it". I always like the thought of the guy going out to his car in the morning, only to find the concrete block on his hood that smashed his windshield last night. If it's been raining ....all the better.

Do you think he did it with his car or with a real key? If it was done with his car there may be some paint transfer on his vehicle. I would check it just for the hell of it. Contacting security was an excellent piece of advice. You may not be the only victim.

There's no paint - and it looks like it was maybe a knife or something sharper -- maybe a small screwdriver. The scratches are at different heights, and they also took the time to scratch the top of the mirror. How thoughtful. I have already contacted the insurance company - and I have a $500 deductible, but I'm going to go ahead. When they inspect it - I'm going to point out everything that could be a scratch - found a few others where it looks like they just "skipped" over the paint with the tool. :bigcry:

Talked to a buddy with an LT1 Trans Am, and he suggested a great place near my house that he's used in the past.

My boss suggested buying colored wax. LOL. Nothankyouverymuch... I want this FIXED.

Or, like Trinity said to Agent Smith in the Matrix; "Dodge THIS."
