Okay, I probably deserved this one 'cause I really didn't get into it right from the start, but here's the story anyways:
Coming home from my friend's shop tonight and i spot in my rear view mirror a new Infiniti G35 coupe weaving in and out of traffic. I'm stopped at light turning left, behind a Buick LeSabre, the G35 behind me with a car between us. Light turns green, I go around the Buick and pull up to the next light. It's red. This "private track" has no turns or streets on it. It's probably slightly more than a 1/4 mile from light to light. No traffic in front. I peer in my mirror to see what the G35 was doing and I see it pull around the Buick and pull up next to me in the left lane. It was a younger looking guy, probably a little younger than me.
So we're sitting at the light, he's half a car in front already (guess he didn't know where the stop line was). I brake torque it to only 1000 rpms, 'cause I really didn't know if he was going to get froggy and jump the light. Light turns green, I let off the brake and get into it about 1/4 throttle. Didn't know it at the time, but I guess he needed to turn right @ the next light so he floors it, and so did I. From half way through first to the 1-2 shift I pulled even with him, stayed there until he shifted gears and then he pulled 1/2 a car on me. My 2-3 shift happens and we stay the same. We finally shut it down @ 160km (100 mph) 'cause he slowed down and pulled behind me to turn right, just before the next stop light.
Now, if I actually hammered it off the line, we probably woud've been dead even all the way through. Infiinti G35 coupe is 298 hp, 260 lb.ft torque. 3512 lbs. for a M6 car, stock according to the Infiniti website. C&D tested one 3/04 at 6.3 0-60, 14.6 1/4 mi. Oh well, I was bummed at first, but then I realized that I hung with a car with pretty much the same hp, but weighs 1000 lbs. less. He probably thought that he was going to kill me, let alone have me hang around right beside him. I don't usually go racing on the "private track", but I just had to see what would happen. Time for some more mods!
