Somewhere on the passenger side is a squeaky rattle of some kind. Used to be I'd only hear it during a hard jarring but now every road imprefection makes it squeak.
If someone presses on the center trim strip with enough force, that silences it.
Something obvously has worked itself loose. Given that this could be any number of things, has anyone successfully silenced a squeaky dash? Is there any diagrams detailing mounting points, etc?
This is one of my quirky things and it makes me absolutely crazy. It would not be beyond my nature to tear out the whole dash and update the mounting method just so I don't have to hear it.

Once you locate the source, try spraying WD40 on a Q-Tip and coat the area. Works for me.

I noticed odd noises are amplified in colder weather, anyone else? I just tend to turn the music up...

Remove the trim and look at the back, there is usually some foam pads or rubber bumpers that may need to be replaced or added. It's hard to diagnose squeaks & rattles long distance.

I have a noise in the passenger left vent. I tap it and it stops but I have to keep doing that.

Does it just snap off? Is there a diagram or something that would tell me where to start prying (or whatever removal method works).
I am still under 36,000 miles... hmmm... frdwrnch may be getting a visit soon...

My dash was squeeking also, it turns out that it was not set all the way in.
I just keep pushing on it (the piece closest to the windshield) until I heard it snap into place.

Before you start taking stuff apart...sit in the driver's seat and rock the passenger seat back and forth...That's where my squeak was.

Drive with the glove compartment empty and the door opened. I think mine is coming from there. Maybe a little something to lube the bumpers will work.
The gray strip where the clock is comes out with no tools. It just takes a little effort.
I haven't been able to get my cowl to stay down.
I also have something making noise in the B pillar area. Not sure if a guide is loose in the door, or seatbelt is loose. Noises are my pet peeve since I like to drive with the radio off sometimes. :mad2:  :fire: :censor:

My B-Pillar noises were from the seat beat latch being ran to far up the belt itself. It was tapping and ticking against the plastic on the pillar. I would get the same sounds from the back seat when the latch would vibrate against the leather.
Thanks for the suggestions. I am going to try everyones advice ASAP.

Start prying off at the passengers side, working your way to the drivers side. Look for any wear marks, tighten any screws you see, make sure any retaining clips are installed and aligned correctly. You might want to get some foam weatherstripping from Lowe's, Home Depot or a local hardware store to put behind any of the rubber tipped bumpers.

...oh yeah----those squeeks.....well--I consider any of them to be "noise" as well, ...so the only "sound" thing to do , since 'noise' is considered "unwanted sound", is to replace it with "wanted" sound, ala louder mufflers---so my Magna Flows take care of any so called unwanted sounds------seems the best thing to do is upgrade your exhaust sustem---that should do it--

Leave it to me to want to be different. Look at this old POST (http://www.mercurymarauder.com/forums/showthread.php?p=51847). (If there is any new input on that after all this time, post it in that old thread please.)

When I heard the squeak again today, I opened the glovebox and left it open for the whole trip to work.
I heard one squeak after that and can't even say for sure that it was the same one.
I will repeat on the way home tonight and alternate between open and closed states and hit as many bumps as I can.
I am 80% sure it is the glovebox though.

This weekend I will have Mrs. Agent drive whilest I investigate to make sure it's not a push/snap type fix before I start going inside.

Turns out this is what was going on with mine. The defroster vent piece thing is rubbing on the windshield. I can hold it down and it stops. I can move it with my fingers and it squeaks.
Now that I know the source for sure, I will address it.
