Bump, 2 weeks to go, I'll be attending. Will be my first 1/4 mi. run with the Marauder. Should have my 4.10's in and broken in by then too. :)
Any other members coming?
I know we may have antoher oct. meet for CAM'ers in the works, I don't want this to impact those plans, but looks like a good late season chance for some racin' and shows.

OK Joe .... gimmee a hint .... where the heck is Monrovia, MD !!! :dunno:
It is south of Mt. Airy, Md. and Northwest of Damascus, Md.
North on I-270 to Rt 27
Rt 27 north through Damascus, turn left on Rt 80
Follow Rt 80 west to the intersection with Rt 75...BINGO
(Hence the name 75-80 Dragway)
I'm most likely going up on Sunday* with my brother and a few friends.
One of them is bringing a brown 72 LTD two door with a 429 and a C6...remember Burt Reynolds in "Gator"???
*Sunday seems to have more things going on, according to the 75-80 website.
ANY CAMMERS COMING OUT FOR SOME "SHOW&GO"????

Looks like I'll be going Sunday. I'm planning on the Mustang Club meet on Saturday. Sunday is the car show though, as well as test and tune all day. Will be my first time down the track with the Marauder. :) Actually, I'll admit right now, my first time down a track ever! Yes! I've missed many oppurtunities before but looks like this one is lining up.
Anyway, merc I may see you Saturday, I'll be driving my MM since the Mustang isn't passing VA emissions at the moment... :(

Cool, I should be at the NVMC car show also. Really thinking hard about showing up at 75/80 on Sunday. I have a couple of bugs to workout before the shootout. :pimp:

No problem we are having another Meet on Oct. 29th in Gettysburg, as soon as Mike arranges it. {Hint, Hint}
And one on Oct. 22nd at the Masion/Dixon Dragway in Hagerstown. (you do not have to race)

Weatherman says cool and dry this weekend (after, hopefully, a bunch of rain on Friday)
:burn:................:burn:.. ...............:burn:
I am seriously considering bringing out the Cobra to get a feel for it at the dragstrip....
If I thought that my Marauder has lousy traction wait until I try to hook-up 550 hp in a 2450 lb car!!!
My brother and I refer to the Cobra's P295/50R-15 rear tires as 'FUSES'.

Maybe,
I will be up there on Sunday, unless it is STILL raining cats & dogs.
Probably will drive the Marauder as there is still a 50% chance of showers on Sunday.
(the Cobra stays home if there is any significant chance of rain :( )

Bah! I doesn't rain for 2 months straight and this weekend is in jeopardy! My saturday plans are postponed due to rain, hopefully Sunday it'll be dry, I'm still planning on hitting 75-80 for the show and the drags.
This will be my first time taking the MM on the strip, I've been looking forward to it for 3 weeks now!

Tommorrow is approaching rapidly! Sounds like the rain is about over for us too, so while cloudy, it should be a dry day.

Fun day at the strip!!!
Cool, cloudy weather and a slippery track made the racing tough....but 'merc' represented the CAMmers well by WINNING the Street Eliminator class!! :banana2: :bows:
I got to meet Mike/ 'Breadfan' and his roommate.
It was Mike's first trip to the strip and he did great with a 14.71 ET! :high5:
I also ran my best ET to date with a 13.61.
I also found out from a friend who was watching my runs that my left rear tire DID NOT spin when I did my burnout prior to launching. :(
So much for the OEM traction-lok diff....gone at 7000 miles!
Now I have another winter project.... :hmmm: Eaton posi, Auburn posi, Zexel Torsen posi..... $$$$$.

Congrats to Merc, sorry that I missed your last run. Now what are you going to do with all that money? :beatnik:
Congrats also go out to Mike, Breadfan, you looked like you were having fun today and also to Joe, too bad about the posi going out. Remember evertime you upgrade to more power you are just looking for the next week link in the chain. If you need any help just give me a call, I can do the beer and pizza run. ;)

Hey guys, it was a great time today! I thought the rain would cause problems for Sunday, but it ended Saturday night. I even got up at 6:15am to was the Marauder. :)
I entered the car show, got a dash plague, but did not win anything there. Didn't really expect too, there was a majority of older cars, and the voters were only the participants in the show...not just people looking.
Today was definitely a learning experience for me, I stuck to test and tune and learned alot - for instance, it takes a while for a Marauder to respond off the line. My first run had a 1.34 reaction time! (.500 is perfect.) As Joe said, I ended up running a solid 14.7.
I took some videos, and my roommate took some pics. I'll upload later. I did peek at the vids, and realized that once you took away the noise and adrenaline of being there on the line, I realized just how much difficulty I was having with traction. (So imagine the problems Joe and merc were having!)
Watched Joe make some great runs turning great numbers for an NA motor. Was also great to see merc battle it out and win his class, I was in staging for the finals, but hopped over to the fence to watch the final run.
I danced around 14.7-14.9's throughout the day, but I really did lack consistency. I'm still learning the lights and coming out of the hole. I always figured tracks were stickier than the road - I can floor it off a light and not even chirp sometimes but here I was lightin' 'em up. Due to this, I'm fairly confident my car has 14.5 in it with it's current state of modifications.
Was also good seeing Haggis and Ladyhawke show up to watch.
All in all, a long day, but a good day.
So - did anyone stay late enough to see if they had the burnout contest? That would've been fun to see. :)
Joe Walsh
10-10-2005, 04:36 PM
I stayed until they closed up and NO burnout competition!
Luckily we didn't bring in our 'hired gun' and waste BillyGman's time and effort...had he entered, it would have been a gimme! :D
I stayed late because I was still bench racing with my friend Chris, who had the 4830 LB '72 LTD 2 door with the original 429 four barrel/C6 combo.
That BEAST made our Marauders look like mid-size sedans! It was running 14.22s at 96 mph with OEM cast iron manifolds, 3.25 gears, & skinny tires...
I told him to get real tires and a set of headers and that thing would run high 13s with ease! Talk about the ultimate sleeper!
