Two quick things....

1.) Looking for Steeda Underdrive part numbers for the Marauder. When I take her in to have the 4.10's installed I may have the performance shop put on a set of UD's while it's there.

2.) Should I even bother with UD's? From what I've read it's definitely worth it...do you keep them once you supercharge though? I probably won't be boosted until early next Spring, so until then the UD's will get some good use even if they have to come off.

I guess the big quetsion is, if they come off, how much of a pain will that make the supercharger install and will it add to the cost so much to make it not worth it. I probably realistically won't supercharge for about 5 months...

I guess I gotta weigh the costs, but just curious if people are still running UD's with their superchargers...if so then I might as well get 'em and keep 'em on.

We took off our underdrives when Trilogy #61 was installed on the Blackbird. Sold them to a Member here. The UDs reduce parasitic drag and give quicker spin up.

Considering the amount of work to dismantle before installing the S/C, the UDs are no big deal.

If I was planning to supercharge, I wouldn't bother with the pulleys.

Save your money for fresh tires, or bigger brakes, both of which you will need in short order.

^^^what Mac said^^^

Although U/D pulleys are a worthwhile addition to an N/A motor, they cannot be used on a Trilogy setup, and are not desireable on a Vortech motor either (the smaller crank pulley lowers the boost). If you DO decide to use them in the interim, be sure you save the stock pulleys.

They have informed me that the UD's have to come off for the Trilogy install but that it isn't a big deal. I suspect that there will be some interest here or at a CV site in them. In the meantime I have enjoyed whatever the added go power is. It is a nice combo with the 4.10's Dennis:burnout:

Well since I'm planning for the S/C I think I'll just for-go them. Since I would have the speed shop install them it'll end up costing me about $100 more...I'll just do the 4.10's for now.

Probably a good choice. The gains are not that much especially for some of the trade offs such as reduced alternator output at idle (lights may dim), increased water temp since the pump runs slower, etc. I've also read some discussions on Mustang boards that the U/D pulley change harmonics in the engine which will lead to some internal damage to the cams or cam gears or chains or something like that. I haven't read those posts in a long time and I can't remember exactly what broke. But, it was enough for me not to buy them. Why chance breaking something for about 7-10 hp gain?

I'll weigh in on the plus side. It's a good cheap mod. If you're staying n/a for awhile, I'd do them. I've had them on for 80ish thousand miles with no ill affects. Yeah, the lights dim a little when you stop, but I haven't noticed any of the other bad things. It won't add to your net hp, but it will increase your brake (read that usable) hp. I'm a satisfied customer.

I'd go for them. cheap HP increase for the price. For P/N's see my post in the Reviews section.

I had the Steedas U/D before the S/C, I enjoyed the results and sold them to a member here when I no longer needed them.

There have been some problems associated with U/D, just like there have been some problems with almost any mod. that you can do, correct installation procedure is the key to good results.

I found then to be a positive worthwhile mod. No one can guarantee you that any mod. will never cause a problem, it's always a calculated risk. I wish you the best with your decision.:)

I have noticed the low alternator output with the pullies, but no cooling issues and definate Difference in power with them
I think they are Worth it

Breadfan,

I agree, pass -however why not add a Meziere elec. wtr. pump.
13-17+ hp?
Call Dennis Reinhart he has them.
Easy to install and good bang for buck.
Also you can turn on along with fan, with engine off.
They say more efficient cooling.

You are gonna love the new 410's - it will jump.
Consider putting in a MMX drive shaft at same time- Dennis has also.
With a SCT tune you will want to spin way up and the MMX is safer.
You could also put in the rear trans oiler from Dennis too as it
slows down wear when going 100+ for any length of time.

Pay close atterntion to brake in info. on diff. Change diff.
oil ( reg. kind ) after 500 miles, wipe out clean them add syn
dif. oil. Instructions from the Diff. Doctor that installed mine.

Just my 3 cents.

I've seen dyno results that show a 3 hp gain with the electric pump on a Cobra 4v engine. I have one myself though.
