A few weeks ago Jeremy (jdando - Trilogy #98) and I attended a small (population 3500) local car show and burnout contest. We each took one of our boys (ages 5 and 6) with us to see some of the cool muscle and classic cars out there. The weather was beautiful, and there was a decent turnout which filled up main street (two blocks long) with these cars.
The trophy winners were a 1970 Olds 442, a '63 Chevy Nova SS convertible, and a 1957 Chevy Belair convertible (can you tell the people around here may be a bit biased towards GM products?).
I participated in the burnout contest, with Jeremy taking videos for me, which unfortunately (due to technical issues with the camcorder - not Jeremy) didn't turn out. People I talked with said I did a decent job, but I'll never know for sure. MAKE SURE YOU TURN OFF TRACTION CONTROL FIRST!!! - I didn't and found that it doesn't want to do burnouts as well with it on. :o After I turned TC off and tried again, I got cheers from the crowd!!!
Anyway, in the local newspaper there was a letter to the editor with a thank you from the guy who organized the event, and in it he mentioned the Jeremy's Marauder.
"I was impressed with the caliber of vehicles participating this year...We had one of 18-1966 Dodge Cornet 426 Hemi's and a slew of other quality and rare vehicles. The dates ranged from a 1929 Packard to a 2003 supercharged Mercury Marauder. Talk about the ultimate family cruiser." :D
I would have to agree 100% with him.
Here are a couple of pics from the day (thanks to Jeremy for these pics).
