Hi all,
What I'm asking is opinions on which muffler would allow me to keep my stock sound but give that extra performance that a free breathing muffler shoud give.
I've got someting that rumbles in the garage already and would like to continue to enjoy the quiet factory sound from my MM.

Performance = Free Flowing = Additional Sound...no matter how you slice it.

Closest I've heard to what you want would be the Ford Racing Dual Mode mufflers...but it will still be a tad louder than the stockers.

I am not looking to wake the neighbors either.

I don't know enough about exhaust work and available options for the MM but at first blush, those Dual Modes sound like what the doctor ordered.

They are quiet under normal driving ,as far as drone I've never heard any at all in his Marauder , but when you hit the gas pedal down they sound really good.

I was told by a muffler shop im my area that "bullit" (sp) mufflers were nice for

just "enough" rumble but not to loud.

for a better flowing exhaust , why not get rid of the four cats, and go with some hi-flows (maggies or pypes, or any other brands,)?. If you stay with the stock 2 1/4 in exhaust you will still retain some bottom end.

I thought I read a post before saying it would be sufficient to remove just to

cats, the other two were for cold starts.... I could be delirious

There is another option that not many of us discuss, but has worked very well for me. Cobra FR headers with Cobra X-pipe and Hi-flow CATS to the stock mufflers. Nice outside sound and no drone at 70-80 mph. I might lose 1-2 HP per muffler with my set-up, but no cabin drone is worth it. I drove behind my MM recently and was surprised on how loud they really were. Just another alternative if you are looking for some sound, but not loud. By the way the install was done at Todd's Grand Muffler and they did a great job.

I think DR has the hook-up for the cobra system. that's Dennis Reinhart.
