My latest mod. Took about 8 hours on a Saturday. I'm also experimenting with a mod to eliminate the water that drips on your head and in the trunk after you wash the MM and open the trunk.

You sir are correct. Did the taillights and backup lights. You win directions (before anyone else) to fix the water that drips on your head from the trunk lid (if my fix-attempt works)..... will know by tomorrow evening.

What kind of paint did you use? Did you have to "rough" up the light cover before painting? Do you loose any back up light ability doing this? Looks good by-the-way!

I used Duplicolor paints, T100 Universal Black (no specific color for Ford / Mercury black) and T125 Clear Top Coat, one can of each. Didn't rough up the surface, used brake cleaner to remove any old wax, road grime, etc. Masked off (used painters tape) and cleaned again. Followed directions on the cans. I recommend letting the paint dry overnight before shooting the clear, less likely to get any orange peel.
Fastblackmerc-
Saw it right away! IMHO one of the best mods for the buck (or the time in your case). I loved the way my car looked when I had it done. Now, if the water in the trunk problem could be eliminated, BONUS!

Anyone done this with on a Silver Marauder? What color code paints used? What's the easy way to remove the light covers for painting?

Ill Take it!!! I absolutely Hate having the Water run out all over the bumper and my head when I open the trunk.
I used Alcohol on a Rag to wipe off any wax or soap residue, Masked Everything with painters tape, I shot 2 coats of Krylon Sandable Primer, Waited a hour for it to dry, I made sure there were no dust particles or bumps, Then Shot 4 Coats of Acrylic Black. I waited about 10-15 minutes between each coat. After about 3 hours, I shot 3 Coats of Clear Coat. Waited about 3 hours, Removed the Tape, Reinstalled the Tail lights and BAM! Instant Night and Day Difference to the Rear Of my MM. I havent gotten Around to the Reverse Lights Yet

There Are 4 Nuts on the Inside of the Trunk, Right behind the Tail Lights, Simply Unscrew them, Slide the Tail light out and Unplug the Main Connecter that goes on the side of the Lamp itself. Takes about 2 minutes if that.
There is a member on here that Did this Mod to a Silver Birch, But I Don't Remember Who , Im Sure He'll Chime in.

There were only 3 nuts on mine. There was no main connector, just remove the taillight sockets. Now I have to find four more taillight sockets to add (2 on each side).
