Sadly, about eight AM this morning my OEM battery sighed it's last breath when I rolled down the front windows prior to starting the car. (I like to hear her wake up in the morning.) I thought, gee, windows went down a little slowly. Turned the key, nothing. No little bitty happy lights on the dash, no radio, no nuttin. :help: Hadn't left anything turned on over night. Had driven the car on a small road trip yesterday, hour out of town and an hour back later in the day with no problems. I guess actual highway trip, first since I bought her a year ago, cause a cardiac arrest. Called AAA, battery dude arrived, ested, pronounced death and performed transplant. Patient is alive again. :D
Just Curious:
What kind of experience have the rest of you had with OEM battery life?

ps don't forget to reset your radio speed control. It took me two weeks to figure out my radio did not sound the same as before.

I'm milking the ***** of of my OEM battery. The car came off the line 21 May 02, and I figure the battery was on the production shelf at least six months prior to that. I don't recall getting this much time out of any battery before, so, I must be blessed. Going to replace it this week.

Two years --- 23,000 miles original still in, still strong.

32K miles and almost three years exactly since I took delivery. U/D pulleys went on at 11K miles and around here the "max a/c" is on from about April through September. Can't complain. :bandit:

Mine lasted 2yrs and was replaced by FMC under warranty.
IMO the lack of use is what kills the battery.
I had a battery last 9 years in a vehicle used daily.

I knew it would happen. You just performed major surgery (dual mufflerectomies), and now every time you turn around, you are rolling down the windows to hear your car, or you are rolling them back up to hear your wife. I wonder who will be next. . . UncleBuck?

I usually get at least 5 years out of a battery..Got 11 out of the OEM F150 battery...
This does make me question the use of UD's:D

Just like the Oldekid said....your mufflerectomy ate up all of your "amps"...
and YES UncleBuck could be next!
How many "amps" can a mufflerectomy eat?
Cold..... lets say 650.
Gotta Love It! :bandit:

This is what I'm worried about. My car sat on the lot for 18 mos before I bought it. The battery is now over three years old, but only half of that time has it been used. I'm wondering if it'll make it through the winter.

Gotta Love It! :bandit:Right on Al! So, when are you coming back down here? We miss you and Linda. I guess you know that Buck will try to seduce you into joining the mufflerectomy club.
What a noisy bunch of misfits. . . .

My Lightning's battery lasted until I pulled it out for a yellowtop optima... a few months over 2 years and it was still perfect.
Our family's expedition has had it's oem battery last since May 98. For some reason it seems the ford OEM truck batteries last a LONG time.

John, We plan to get back the end of next month (October)
Looking forward to seeing you and Denise. Yeh, I was thinking of
joining the mufflerectomy club....I need the works: Tune, Tint,
Gears, Pipes, CAI and probably a good wax job!
All the best......starting the 30 day count down! :D

I am an idiot. Didn't even think about it possibly being covered under the warranty.:mad2: Assumed that Ford would consider it a "consumable" like brake pads, etc.
