Cruzin’ thru Wildwood on Saturday looking for a parking spot to go see the boardwalk car show when I saw something black flash by ... was that a Marauder? Parking can wait while I check it out. Made the turn to follow, about 10 cars behind, my daughter says “I see it has inserts - it’s a Marauder!” After a couple blocks, the street widens to 2 lanes, I zoom up beside and the driver turns and looks at me and starts laughing like a maniac - and so do I! Hey Marauder Mark that is one sweeeeeeet ride!!!! Thanks for the entertainment - the people on the corner loved it!!!

My wife said “You guys all have that smile on your face when you’re driving this car!” Great to meet you; too bad you didn’t stick around. At 4 pm, the cars left the boardwalk, and cruised thru town. It’s like going back in time!

At one point, we were behind a really nice Cobra and the crowds on the street were calling for him to “light ‘em up!” - he waved a ticket out the window and said, “Nah, I’m done!” :burnout:

It was really cool to see an MM there .especailly when you find out that the owner is also on the site:up:.i was cruising around there that thursday and friday night and alot of the people there know this car as well as the sound mine makes .they were hollering for me to pull over and as well as light em up.anyways i'm sorry we didnt hook up but i came in from north ww and was looking for a spot but when i saw how packed the boards were i figured lets go out rio-grand way and head home. hopefully we can hook up again for lunch or dinner or just shoot the poo , maybe next year down there we can park on the side together give em something to see:2thumbs:

I had my turquoise 64 Galaxy convertible on the boardwalk. On Thursday, I was about 300 feet south of the convention center; on Friday, I was way up north around 21st ave. (My car was not the Galaxy running around with the big hood bubble and Craegar (I think) wheels.)

I get a kick when they yell for me to "light 'em up" when I drive by in the Galaxie.

That little old 352/250 hp couldn't light 'em up if my life depended on it.

On Thursday, I did see an MM in the parking lot, and the guy parked next to me (driving a 70's original Chevelle 350) said he owned one, but he said he wasn't an MM chatbox member.

The most interesting car I saw in the show was an Australian Ford Falcon that looked like an early 70's Torino with right hand drive. Also saw two very nice 68 Torino GT fastbacks.

There actually were gaps on the boardwalk without cars, so it looks like the show didn't sell out 100%. Plenty of cars, anyway. Missed the cruise due to a longer than expected restaraunt wait. Just as well. Carb was loading up and the car was having a lot of trouble idling.

This brings back memories of my youth whe I used to vacation there. I always wanted a hermit crab from there but ended up with the "imaginary dog" instead.

Jerry, I was looking for you; were you there on Saturday? I think they filled any gaps with people; it was crowded - I did see a couple of other Galaxies in the show - and I did see that Australian Falcon, it was a head turner.

WOW! Wildwood NJ! My parents would vacation there every summer when we were kids.
I loved that place, especially the Boardwalk. Is "Hunt's Pier" still there?? Great rides and food for youngsters!

Man did that bring back some memories! Too bad about the Pier... :(

That was the best place when you were a kid! Those rides would scare the poop out of me.

My error.

I was on the boardwalk Friday south of the Convention Center, and Saturday way up north.

Unfortunately, a lot of the boardwalk walkers don't go all the way to the northern end, so you probably missed me. On the north end, most strollers were there for the Irish Festival. At the south end, over 100 cars were lined up at 6AM for a boardwalk 8AM loading time. Show has gotten too big.

If you haven't been to Wildwood in a while, it's changing. Many of the old 50/60s motels are being torn down and condos are rising everywhere. In a few years, at the rate that they are replacing motels, it doesn't look like there will be many places where you can just go for a few days or a long weekend.

A sign of things to come: a new restaurant in Wildwood Crest requires sporty casual; no jeans or shorts! Middle/upper class condo crowd moving in.

Property prices are through the roof. Even new duplex houses four/five blocks from the beach are going at $720,000 each.

I heard that the old Thunderbird Motel was sold for 4.5 million, and the purchaser resold it in a few days for 9 million.

Even the night time car activities have been tuned down. No more sanctioned burnouts, for example.

Sorry I missed you, Jerry. We walked from the south end at Cresse and made it to Maple Ave. at 4 pm when the cars left the boardwalk. Busy weekend in Wildwood; Car Show, Irish Festival, and Powerboat Races. Yes, lots of changes there; construction everywhere - I believe the Rio motel, which is now the empty lot acoss the street from the convention center, will become a 25 story condo-tel (?), done in wild doo-wop style, with 2 more 25 story hotels nearby.

No more burnout contest? = bummer No jeans or shorts? At the shore? won't see me there!

Golden Nugget Mine Ride - word is Moreys want to restore it and pull it across the beach to their other pier. How cool is that!

I was there to, but I kept the MM parked. If I knew you guys were there we could have gotten together for a meet.

Did the MM in the lot just south of the Convention Center on Friday belong to one of you? If so, if you used the closest stairway to get to the boardwalk, my car was right there parked next to an early 70s red Buick Skylark convertbile for sale at $25,000.

By the way, show doesn't allow entry newer than 1981 or 1989.

Show doesn't allow newer cars. Limit is either 1981 or 1989 and older, I forgot which. (Paperwork is at home.)

When they allowed any year enrollment, the crowd was too much. Cars were being bumped left and right off the boardwalk (three years ago, I got bumped; good thing it was a hot fall and the Atlantic was warm; if you can't get on the boardwalk, there's no use entering a car).

Lining up at 6 am and seeing cars cut in line at intersections gets old real quick. Near riots. They had to impose restrictions.

FYI, I don't own a Marauder.

2003 TBird/black/saddle, 2004 Lincoln LS 8 Sport/lt Tundra mettalic, 1994 TBird 4.6 LX/black/tan, 1958 TBird/white/ white-black interior, and the Galaxie convert, but no Marauder.

Next year's show is the last weekend in September. Great way to end the summer, but NJ's weather's a crapshoot in September.
