I know we have 4 Cats on our cars, but I wanted to know if anyone
converted just 2 of the 4 Cats(hi-flow)? Would it make a difference? I did do
a search, did'nt see anything similar. The muffler shop I am going to wants
250.00 per Cat so I was just planing on converting 2 to hi flow. Any input
would be helpful. I thought I read earlier that the first 2 cats were for
cold startups, I could be delirious.

250.00 EACH!!!!
I bought two 2-1/2" Hi-Flow Cats from Kooks as part of their exhaust system and only paid $115.00 each.
I'm only running these two Cats just behind the headers and have not had any problems...

Some years ago now, I misspent a fair amount of my student loan funds and purchased a new H-pipe with two brick-type cats for my '93 Mustang LX 5.0. The place I bought 'em from was just north of Birmingham, AL....I got the name of the place out of the back of a "5.0" magazine. I think it was something like T & L Automotive, or T&L Mufflers, or T & Something...I can't remember. This was all the way back in 2000 now, and a lot's happened to me since then. I don't even have that Mustang now---traded away to Daytona Lincoln-Mercury for the Hulk.
The quality was pretty good...I think they were T-304 aluminum and the cats were realllllly big, at least compared to the 4 ball-type cats that were on the 'Stang before modding. The price was good too, something like $130 or so for the whole thing, before shipping. If we could find this joint again they might be able to work something up for the Marauders....
Where's Donny Carlson? The one thing that I DO remember distinctly was that this place was just up in either Gardendale or Irondale, a short drive north of B'ham. Donny! Whar you at?

Your car will run fine with the stock Catalytic Converters....it will breathe better with just 2 Magnaflow, High-Flow CATS...it will breathe the best if you replace with what we've done for a few folks and install 3" Stainless/Mandrel downpipes to 3" in/out Magnaflow CATS. Although increasing the stock exhaust to 2 1/2" will be a big help as well.
There are good complete systems out there available. And we build complete custom, on-car systems ourselves. It always blows my mind how folks try to do important things to an expensive, high performance automobile "on the cheap". That's why there are Marauders out there with nice systems...and some that are "hacked-up". Pick your poison, but all this talk about hacking off mufflers...rear CATS and piecing things together against the collective conventional wisdom here from those of us that not only blazed those trails for you...but f***ing have literally drawn pictures of how to get there...
Whatever...I'm done.

Purchased from Todd and installed by Grand Mufflers, Georgia.

Cool...I had to double take at the picture...I have the same identical setup. I started with factory manifolds, but upgraded to the Kooks headers last winter. I love the way it sounds. Thanks for the reply.
Here are the pics of mine before the Kooks:

Ok, well I'm a college student and can't afford a $2000,00 dollar exhaust. I
just simply wanted 2 high flow cats and mufflers for a little improved sound.
I don't consider that "hacked" or "Gypsy". I suppose the people who don't
"go all out" and spend $4,000 for a supercharger, but rather spend it on less
expensive performance mods, are "hacking" there cars? If I get the hi-flow
cats and mufflers and bring it to a reputable shop to have them installed,
let the "hacking" begin.http://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif (javascript:void(0))

I love the way my car runs with my own x-pipe that has 2 1/4 ID pipes and 2 cats. The down pipes are 2 1/2 ID. I'm a hacker, but I like it and it works great for me.
