Generally if the Car is moving forward and a Wheel locks up, It will send a Signal and Kick the ABS on. If you want to Defeat it, You'll probably have to remove the ABS Fuse or Relay and chances are that will set a Code and the light will come on. The Parking Brake is Mechanical On the MM. How is it Acting like ABS when the Wheel Is locked and there is No Hydraulic Assist to Make the ABS Work???

Turn the ABS off and then try it.
:)
Take off your rear rotor and look at the brake shoes inside the parking brake drum, then ask yourself ho wmany times, if any, that little POS shoe will able to lock your rear wheels. I know that on my 96 grand marquis, I used the parking brake to ease the car to a stop at a light a few times, and then it no longer worked. Removal of the rear rotors revealed that the bonded friction material had completely separated from the steel shoe assemblies and was just running around or laying at the bottom of the drum inside the rear rotors.
These cars cannot be used like traditional parking brake style cars can, whether those cars have the rear brakes as drum only, or disc brakes with the parking brake cables going into the calipers. These cars' parking brakes are very limited in what they can do. Be careful with the limited abilities of the panther's parking brakes.

This beg's the question...
Is it called a Parking Brake or an Emergency Brake in Ford literature?

I've posted this question before and it went both ways as far as how people like to use it no matter what the books say. To each their own.

I would like to think that it is there in case of an EMERGENCY... and is capable of actually stopping the car....
The previous posts seem to cast doubt on that capability....

All reasoning and attempts to understand youth aside....
Since when did e-brakes come with ABS? :dunno:

I wouldn’t worry about the ABS. Go about 50 MPH then do your thing and slam the e-brake pedal, let us know what happens.

The previous posts seem to cast doubt on that capability....I've tried it from 30 MPH and it took waaay to long to slow my Marauder to a stop. Better off downshifting in an emergency then use the brake IMO.

Its a Parking Brake for normal Situations and If you should lose all Brake Fluid and there is no pressure, Yes it can be used in a emergency situation Because it is Mechanical and Can Stop the Car at SLOW Speeds.

The other day I was looking at one of my friends books. It was a Bondourant book about police tactical driving or something like that. In one section it talked about how to properly flip a 180 to go after a suspect going the other way. I think they said slow down to about 30 mph crank the wheel push in the parking brake and the car should start to slide around then release it with your arm while giving gas. It was something along those lines but it made it seem like the parking brake could do what you are looking for on a Police Crown Vic. Maybe you should see if there is anything the cops do to their Crown Vics, then try to do it to your Marauder since I would imagine the setup would be similar if not the same. Just a thought.

You guys are just plain old sick ! This is a Marauder you are beating the ***** out of. Go get farmer John's pickup and do that sort of thing. Doing it with a Marauder will make you go blind......... or worse.A rental would be o.k too.
My Marauder is bone stock and I am nervous about hooking up a tuner. I don't know how much coin and time you have to replace broken parts, but years of dragracing taught me to build it 50% stronger than what you'll need.
You guys are just plain old sick!
But have fun doing it.............

YOU BE THE JUDGE!!!Well, today I'm convinced your somewhat correct about the P and E thing. I was sitting at the post office which has angled parking and the lot is on a slope. Now there are signs everywhere saying to set your hand brake but the person next to me didn't...... Well, I was sitting there and this SUV starting rolling back wards a bit then I heard a sound I've heard before of the transmission parking sprag(sp) snapping. To say the least this person didn't set the parking brake and rolled into a parked car behind them. I'm happy that the wheels weren't turned or I would have been messed up on my drivers side. The guys wife was in the pass seat and there was nothing she could do but go for the ride. For a 15-20 foot roll both of the cars were fairly messed up. This would have been a normal situation to use a parking brake.
