To my dismay, I'm in the need of a place to polish wheels. Well actually remove some sracthes and polish rim.

STORY: Went to get an alignment, shop had problems getting the alignment tool on the wheel, scratched the spoke and wheel lip. Tried two places already, one in Ypsi and one in Romulus, neither will do it. The one in Romulus does commercial and auto polishing, Ypsi does wheels and et al.

The shop is willing to pay for a "new" one but I figured I'd give this a shot but I'm not liking the results.

So, should I continue or..... ????
Also confirm this: our wheels are clear-coated, correct?

yes clear coat. Problem with polishing is to get the even polish across the surface. Not many shops interested in putting in the time. Not to mention the labor involved, the cost usually winds up prohibiting the job, unless they are rare out of production pieces.

I'd have them buy you replacements, if they are willing to pay

Well, went to WeldCraft Wheels here in Northville. Talked to Chris, said wheels are not clear-coated. Take 750 -1000- 2000 grit and polish they would look like a mirror. Gave me the # to Alloy Wheels in Troy. dunno.

Anyway all the shops said they won't do it, cost isn't the problem. Only 25-50 to do it. Getting the polish to match. That's the problem. Dunno, just not feeling right about having them redone. Wife isn't either. Most all my friends are saying make em pay for it. I got till middle of next week to decide.

Chris is wrong. They definitely are and I have the little rock chips to prove it.

the inside is not clear coated, but the face is, thats where the scratches count. And I also have the scars to prove it :)

Try www.wheeltechnologies.com they have a repair/exchange program at $125, or you can just buy them outright for $250.
