I received the exhaust tips without resonators on Friday but was out of town until last night. I got them installed this morning.
:D :banana2:  :bounce:
You can tell......I like the outcome. Fellows these tips make a huge difference. The original tips were made by Cone Engineering in California and are indeed Megs tips with a built in resonator. The other good news is that they are now making and selling the OEM type Megs tips, exactly the same size, shape, finish as original except they do not have the resonator built in.
These are straight thru stainless steel tips. Since these are parts made by the OEM manufacturer I don't think that Logan will mind me posting the p/n and cost. Going directly to Cone Engineering will save you over half the cost of what others are selling these parts for. The p/n is C-15-04076-2 and they only cost $60 a pair
plus shipping. This is the way LM originally wanted the car to sound. Hence the thread and talk of preproduction tips from before. These are the same parts. They do exsist and make a big difference.
My advice to any that want to mod their exhaust system for sound or tone changes. Buy these tips and install before doing anything else. The 18" Magnaflows I had installed at a price of $400 sounded terrible until I put these tips on. I suspect that I would have been happy with the stock mufflers had I put these on first. And saved some nice cash too.
As far as installation. It may be able to save the originals but they need to be cutoff with a sawsall and there is a pipe hanger welded to them. I told my exhaust guy to do what he wanted to get them off. He cut the hangers off the original tips and reused them. He had to add a short 3" piece of stainless pipe to get the Tips back to where they were originally. When he was done I could not tell the difference from factory installed. Get a good custom exhaust shop to do this for you ! My guy only charged me $50 to install. He normally gets $50 apiece but he gave me a break since I had just had the mufflers installed too.
So there it is......for those that want alittle more agressive sound,
for less than $200 installed you can acheive this. I now feel that the 14" Magnaflows might be too much sound with these tips.
There is also no in cabin resonance or drone at highway speeds.
There is a nice burble as well when you let off the throttle. I am sold. Any questions ask away.:D
