OK, so it's a CAM DOO, but all are welcome! It's at Appalachian Brew Company at 1PM on Saturday October 29th, 2005. Here's their website: http://www.abcbrew.com/gettysburg/index.html (http://www.abcbrew.com/gettysburg/index.html)
There are well crafted micro-brews, and excellent food. Following the lunch, we'll take a cruise up through the mountains and sneak into the realm of Camp David via the back door, (no worries, nothing illegal), and come out on US 15 at Thurmont for those headed back South to the Balmer/DC/Va area. I predict the leaf peeping will be at its max and the scenery should be spactular. I trying to arrange a special surprise, and if we can pull it off, we'll be talking about it on the MM net for years to come.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com[img] /><o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p></P>

For those who wish to spend the night and tour the Battlefield on Sunday there's a hotel just behind the Brewery. I suggest the self guided tape/CD tour: info at this link, and others...just Google Gettysburg Battlefield http://www.nps.gov/gett/pln-vst.htm (http://www.nps.gov/gett/pln-vst.htm)<o:p></o:p></P>

<o:p></o:p></P>
</P>
Plan to get there early on Saturday or Friday night, because there are lots of things to do. We have the parking lot for the Marauder mini show and it would be good to start getting there about noon on Saturday. The idea is to get into the Brewery by 1PM so we can get cracking on the cruise, and get to Camp David before dusk. <o:p></o:p></P>

PM me with questions, or post 'em here. <o:p></o:p></P>

For those who want to start your day here in Fairfield (12mi south of Gettysburg) we'll be serving coffee and pastries if you'd like to share our hospitality. It's easy to find, just west of Emmetsburg, MD, on PA 16, and all are welcome. We'll be leaving our home at about 11:30 for the brewery.</P></FONT>

I will be there...but weather dependent getting late in the season, I might be on the scooter instead. Anyway it will be good to check out some of the other rides. I still have my rear end gears sitting in the box, if anyone is there that is willing to take me for a ride, I would love to feel the difference. In return, because I am a giving type of individual, if you bring your wife...I will give her a ride on my chopper! :D

:) I expect to walk into the resturant at 1PM sharp, and would like to start the cruise to Camp David no later than 2:30. That would put us at RT 77 & 15 by no later than 4:30, and hopefully, somewhat earlier.
It would be good to be in the Gettysburg area, and near the parking lot about noon.
Think we can pull it off? :D

That may be me - I'll have to check the maps and see how I'll be going. I assume up 15 or maybe 81...
If a cruise from Frederick is being formed though I'd probably hitch up even if it's a tad longer drive.

I just put the address into Google Maps to find the location. Looks like you just Take 15 and hang a left onto Route 30. Head west for about 1/2 mile or so. Brew Pub should be on the left.
I will be coming up I-270 and headed through Frederick on Route 15 around 11 AM (give or take). Wanna rally somewhere??

Bluerauder and I have talked and he is meeting me at 11am in Frederick, we are meeting at the Burger King on West Patrick St. I-270 turns into Rt-15N in Frederick, off of 15N take Exit 13B Rt-40 West (West Patrick St.). At the 3rd traffic light make a right into the shopping mall, BK is right on the corner can't miss it. For those of you that went to the Dyno Day at Kauffman's last year, same place.
PM me if you want our cell number.

I will be coming up I-270 and headed through Frederick on Route 15 around 11 AM (give or take). Wanna rally somewhere??Charlie, and all, it's on the other (WEST) side of town. It's best to get off at Steinweher Ave. if you're coming North on US 15. That's the first exit in PA. It's also called Buisness Rt 15. You'll see a big sign for Boyd's Bears. For those going south from the Turnpike, take the US 30 WEST(York Street) exit and come into town, staying on US 30 the whole way to the Brew Pub. No matter how you get to Gettysburg, go into the square (circle) and Take US 30 (Chambersburg Street) WEST which turns into Beuford Ave. Go up the hill (Seminary Ridge), and it's on the right at the top of the hill. HOWEVER! We're gonna use their parking lot accross the street for the Marauder show & tell.
Just remember ....Gettysburg is a very small town, with about a dozen traffic signals, and it's only a few blocks to anywhere. :)

Actually, I gave the jack stands to the towing guys who had to put my new wheels back on in the driveway. It made for quite an attraction in the neighborhood. The event sounds like it is shaping up very nicely. Nice cool and clear weather which will aid in the boost!:D

After the meet in Gettysburg our local car club is having its last cruise-in of the year from 5pm - 10pm. The cruise-in will be at the Fredericktowne Mall and they will also be collecting toys for Toys-4-Tots that evening. If interested in coming let me know in G'burg and we can cruise down together.

Since the cruise from Gettysburg, past Camp David will put us on US 15 at Thurmont, it's just a short dash to Frederick in plenty of time for the Golden Gears Doo.
Um, did you tell anyone about the Great Italian Resturant just next door? :)

Ok, I called KClingers and made a reservation for 10-15 people for ~6PM on Friday night. So, it looks like 8-10 so far, and we can add anyone who's interested in joining us. Elm St. is on the South end of town on the road to Littlestown (Frederick Road) http://www.kclingers.com/
So, let's see, we have KClinger's on Friday night, Boyd's Bear's in the morning then Applachean Brewery, on Saturday starting ~ noon, and in the resturant at 1PM sharp, then the Cruise to Camp David, followed by the Golden Gears Car Show with Gordon & Chris in Frederick, Saturday night. Anyone for a breakfast plan Sunday? ;)

It's just that we have some surprise out of town visitors attending Mike's mighty fine Gettysburg CAM Doo, and they'll be staying in Hanover.
I mean they have to eat, right? So what else to do but find the best place in town to have a good time and get a wonderful bowl of MARYLAND crab soup and the state's best selection of great beers; that would be KClinger's in Hanover.
I just know they are welcome to join us. So far, it's 6 secret out of town guest CAM'ers Mike & Barb, Gordon & Chris and.....

Six out of towners?!? :hmmm:
Now, figure that one out, Gordon.
Here's a little more info to give you something to ponder .....until tonight, of course, then you'll see for yourself.
Hopefully, you can get Chris to KClingers, before we depart for the second phase of the plan.
There are more than 6 out of towners, but these one's are coming by aeroplanes, .......from different directions, and different aerodrommes. You got lucky ...once, lets see how you do on this one.
Hey Mary, we need a Mad scientist with cape and a BWAHAAAAA!

If you depart before Chris gets there or has the chance to get something to eat you are going to have to deal with her yourself. I take no responsibity for her actions. :fire: :bop:

But, I thought that part was your job. If I was in charge of that woman, she'd be there by 5:45.
( once we get to KClinger's, I'll give you some pointers on how to make wife-persons behave) :hide:

Yea right!! Good luck. Chris is very career orientated and like a typical woman is always running late.

Hey, I understand, Barb's the same way, and I admire her for her commitment to her job. Here's her rule, and I suspect, it applies to most everyone we know: You take their pay, you do the job ..pure and simple.
Don't worry, we'll be there, and Chris can have all the time she needs.
(although, I can't say they're gonna have any beer left, I mean, they only have 75 taps going, and about a thousand kinds of bottled beers ...hardly enough for us real beer lovers. I'll be bringing the 100 best list.
Um does Chris KNOW who's gonna be there? ;)

Hahah, I just realized you guys can see I haven't voted yet! I like to see how the majority is going so I can join the most popular bandwagon. :D
Actually I need to make a phone call tonight to verify who if anyone is coming - had asked some family members if they wanted to go, but I don't think any will be making it. Might just be me, maybe one other but probably just big 'ol me.

Thanks to everyone for attending.
We started Friday night at KClinger's in Hanover, PA for beer, Maryland crab soup and crab cakes.
Saturday began with a raid on Boyd's Bears in Gettysburg, then Lunch/beveradges at Applachean Brew Company, followed by a cruise into the Catoctan Mountains which is the home of Camp David. We made a short side trip to our home, to pick up the lovely Barbara, who was waiting at the end of the driveway for us.
Since there were visitors in residence, at Camp David, we weren't permitted access to Park Central, but got close enough to share the beauty of the area with the First family. It must have been quite a sight to the security folks at Camp David to see the convoy of MM's snaking up the mountain via the back road, headed for the front gate. My guess is, we were on the radar as soon as we turned off MD 550, and those guys must have been having a fit, wondering who the hell we were and what was going on.
After turning round at the security shack, we followed MD 77 to US 15 at Thurmont where Ron (X369) and family headed north back to Philly, while the remaining convoy headed south to Haggis & LadyHawke's Golden Gears cruise in at Frederick.
Surprises? There were three, as advertised.
Dan and Cheri drove in from Indianopolis, while Bob & Mary flew in from the Cape. Since Dan had more room in his car for Cheri's newly started Bear collection, Barb guesses she won the most bears contest, but judging from the size of Mary's bag, I'm guessing poor Bob had to leave some of his things behind so they could get on the plane to Boston.
Number three? Gordon & Chris unvailed their pristene GNX. Way to go, kids, it's a beauty. Watch for photos.
I'm off to Snow Shoe for a week of Turkey/Grouse hunting so, see y'all next week. Thanks again for visiting Gettysburg, CAM members & guests ...you're the best.
Love mike & barb...:grouphug:
Thanks for hosting, Mike. It was great to meet you and everyone there! Good beer, good people, and Marauders - whats not to like?! And a big thank you to Cheesehead Bob - OH, MAN!!!!! :D

Anytime, Ron. I just wished you had a chance to really open it up. If you are ever down in Baltimore, let me know. I know of a couple private stretches of asphalt where we can really get on it. I had a great time, Thanks Mike, and everyone who attended.

What a great bunch of folks in a beautiful area. Loved Gettysburg and the "fall foilage" tour. We won't soon forget the battlefield, or the ABC for lunch. Many thanks to Mike and Barb(sweet mustangs!!) and to everyone we met. I don't know where the tracks are in the CAM area, but I wouldn't mind returning there for a National meet
I am sure my licence plates are now on file somewhere because of our back-door attempt at Camp David. Gordon and Chris, always great to see the 2 of you. The only thing greater than the drive out was the people that we met there. Putting a face with a screen name is always a good thing. Thanks once again for the hospitality!!

It was good seeing you and Cheri again too, Dan. You and Cheri are welcome back anytime and there is a lot more hills and back roads to see. I even know some places where you would swear you were in the movie 'Wrong Turn' and there is also the 'Blair Witch' area. Well everyone left before feedind time so hopefully someone else brought unsuspecting tourists to feed the zombies.
It was also good to see Mary and Bob again, sorry to hear that Bob did not want to come on the road tour with us, there was plenty of room in the GN for you.
It was also good to hang with our fellow CAM Members again and he had some new people show up. Ron and his family, cute dog, and Bob (Warbuf) and Jack and his wife. Hopefully you will all make more meets in the future.
Those of you that could not make it you were all missed. Next CAM Meet is Nov 19th at the Mason/Dixon Dragway with the NVMC we can raid the Lonestar Restraunt in Hagerstown afterwards. And the first official word of the December CAM Meet will be on Dec 11th (Sunday). For those that can not make it on Saturdays. Look for the thread in the next few days.
